Colorado-Nicholls Notes

December 18, 2015 | Men's Basketball

Team

Colorado improves to 9-1 overall and is on a nine-game winning streak, its best since a 10-game run during the 2013-14 nonconference schedule.

The nine-game win streak ties for the sixth longest in team history.
This is the fourth game CU has won after trailing at the half. Colorado has also trailed double-digits in four games this season and has come back for the win. The Buffaloes trailed Nicholls by 10, 38-28 with 2:00 remaining in the first half.

Nicholls led 43-36 but the Buffs ended on a 49-25 run.

CU made its final 11 shots including 5-5 three-point field goals.

The Buffs shot 50% FG for the fourth time.

Colorado adds to its school record by scoring at least 80 points for the ninth straight game.

Players

Josh Scott now has 76 double-figure scoring games after scoring 20 points against Nicholls. He once again led the team in scoring – fifth time this season - and moved from 13th to 11th on CU's career charts, now with 1,374 points.

Josh Fortune finished with his second highest point total in a CU uniform, racking up 17, just one short of his career high.

Scott and Fortune scored 28 of their 37 points in the second half, while Nicholls's Ja'Dante' Frye and T.J. Carpenter had 21 of their 34 points in the first half.

Xavier Talton is now 14-14 for free throws on the 2015-16 season.

Wesley Gordon tied a career-high with seven blocked shots. The seven was also a team season high and ties for the third best single game in team history. Gordon now has 114 career blocks tying him with Donnie Boyce (1991-95) for seventh on CU's career charts.

Tory Miller had his second career double-figure rebounding game and the first of the season.

Thomas Akyazili tied his career-high with eight points. He has hit at least one 3-pointer in each of the last eight games.
