CU Looks For 10th Consecutive Win On Friday At Home

BOULDER - Colorado will host Washington on Friday at 3 p.m. at Prentup Field. The Buffs will be looking for their 10th consecutive win as they try to go 6-0 in the Pac-12 this season. It was also be part of Homecoming and alumni weekend as many former Buffs will be in attendance and will be recognized during the match.

Tompkins Breaks Brunner's Record
•   Redshirt freshman Jalen Tompkins broke the school record for longest individual shutout streak, reaching 480:43 before surrendering a goal.
•   She stopped 24 consecutive shots on goal during the streak, which began on Sept. 9 in a 3-1 win over Hawai'i and ended in a 3-1 win over Oregon on Oct. 6.
•   Current assistant Annie Brunner had the previous record of 477:11 and set that mark in 2013.
•   The team's shutout streak stretched to 444:40, the third-longest streak in school history (record is 551:54, stretching from 2012 to 2013).
Kornieck Records/Historic Performances
•   Taylor Kornieck became the first CU freshman ever to have back-to-back two-goal games when she scored twice (and had an assist) against Drexel and scored two more times against Hawai'i on Sept. 4 and 9.
•   She is the first CU player ever to score a game-winning goal in three consecutive matches.
•   Her current five-match goal streak has beaten Nikki Marshall's school record of four matches in a row with a goal and Marshall did it three times (twice in 2006, once in 2007).
•   Kornieck had five points (two goals and one assist) in a 5-0 win over Drexel and it was just the third time in CU history a freshman has recorded five points in a match.
•   Former USWNT player and current volunteer assistant Nikki Marshall is the only other Buff to have five points in a match as a freshman and she did it twice in 2006.
First Win In Pullman, 200th Win Ever
•   CU's 1-0 win at Washington State on Sept. 23 was big in several ways as it was the first-ever win for the Buffs in Pullman, Wash., and first win over WSU since joining the Pac-12 in 2011.
•   It was also the 200th win in school history.
•   It was also head coach Danny Sanchez's 50th win at CU.
•   Taylor Kornieck became the first freshman since 2010 to score in a conference opener (Hayley Hughes and Lizzy Herzl scored in a 2-1 win over No. 6 Texas A&M in 2010 when CU was in the Big 12).
Tompkins Earns Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week
•   Jalen Tompkins made seven saves in a 1-0 win at Washington State on Sept. 23 and was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 27.
•   With the match still scoreless in the 86th minute, Tompkins made a spectacular diving save on a shot from inside the box to keep WSU off the board and allow for Taylor Kornieck's game-winning goal just three minutes later.
Tompkins and Kornieck Earn Pac-12 Weekly Awards
•   Taylor Kornieck (offensive) and Jalen Tompkins (goalkeeper) both earned Pac-12 player of the week awards on Oct. 4.
•   It is the first time since CU joined the Pac-12 in 2011 that two Buffs have earned player of the week honors in the same week.
•    Kornieck scored the game-winning goal in both games for CU this week and is now the Pac-12 co-leader in goals scored.
•    Both of her goals were the only tallies in a pair of 1-0 wins.
•    Tompkins led CU to two 1-0 road wins with nine saves with her second weekly award of the year.
•    She had six saves at ASU, including a save on a breakaway in the 63rd minute and two saves in the 83rd minute.
Offense Breaks Out
•   After having several unlucky losses where CU outshot its opponents considerably and dominated possession, the offense broke out of its slump with a 5-0 win over Drexel on Sept. 4, converting five of its 26 shot attempts (14 on goal).
•   Taylor Kornieck (see note above) had the biggest performance, but Sarah Kinzner, Danica Evans and Stephanie Zuniga also got in the scoring column against the Dragons.
•   Heading into the Drexel match, CU has outshot its opponents 79-52 over the previous four matches, yet the team had been outscored 6-4.
•   Over the next three matches, CU outscored its opponents 12-2.

•   In 14 matches this season, newcomers have 14 of the team's 28 goals (50 percent), six assists (27 percent) and 122 shot attempts (53 percent), while combining for 51 starts.

•   The Buffs have five international players on their roster this season, the most ever in school history.
•   Through 14 matches, CU's international players have combined for six of the team's 28 goals (21 percent), six assists (27 percent) and 47 shot attempts (20 percent), while making 29 total starts.
•   Last season, CU had three international players and prior to last season, the most it had ever had was two.
•   Junior transfer Hannah Scheid, who will have to sit out this season due to NCAA eligibility rules, is the first Buff to come from Germany.
•   Sophomore Sarah Kinzner and freshman Camilla Shymka both hail from Calgary, Alberta, and are members of the Canada U-20 National Team.
•   Senior Kahlia Hogg and sophomore Isobel Dalton are both natives of Australia.
Spring Recap
•   CU finished the spring with a 4-0-2 record, defeating Air Force (1-0), Denver (2-1), Colorado College (1-0) and Nebraska (3-1), and tying Northern Colorado (1-1) and South Dakota State (1-1).
•   Spring goal scorers: Erin Greening 3, Danica Evans 2, Stephanie Zuniga 2, Sarah Kinzner 1, Joss Orejel 1
•   Evans also had two assists
•   Scout Watson and Jalen Tompkins split time in goal
Hogg Returns
•   Kahlia Hogg is back for her senior season after missing the majority of last season with an injury.
•   She started the first six matches last season and led CU to a 4-1-1 record during that time, but the Buffs went 3-9-2 without her in the lineup over the final 14 matches.

National Team Notes
•   Kornieck traveled to England in July for two matches and training with the U-18 Women's National Team and started both matches against England.
•   Kinzner started all five matches for Canada at the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Honduras and scored two goals (one against Trinidad & Tobago and one against Jamaica), helping Canada reach the finals (United States won 1-0). (more details below)
•   Shymka also competed for Canada at the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Honduras and played in two matches as a reserve, totaling 27 minutes on the pitch.
Kinzner Shines at CONCACAF Championship
•   Sarah Kinzner competed for Canada at the 2015 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Honduras in December.
•   Kinzner started all five matches and scored two goals, leading Canada to the finals against the United States.
•   Canada qualified for the 2016 U-20 World Cup by finishing in the top three (Canada lost 1-0 to the United States in the finals).
