Twins To Serve As Homecoming Grand Marshals

October 13, 2016 | Football

BOULDER – At 91 years old, Peggy and Betty have been relentless supporters for every CU athletic team for over 45 years. They rarely miss a CU football, men's basketball or women's basketball game and their support extends to cheering on all other sports at CU, as well.

Their continuous support and enthusiasm has placed a lasting impression on all who have had the opportunity to meet them. The positively they bring to the student-athletes has greatly impacted the community. Peggy and Betty make certain that whether the Buffs win or lose, open arms of support are waiting for them.

After their continuous years of support, the twins (as they are known throughout campus) will be receiving the honor of being the grand marshal of the 2016 CU Homecoming parade.

As grand marshals, Peggy and Betty will participate in the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally, one of the many homecoming events scheduled for this week. They now join a list of other legendary CU figures who have served as grand marshal, including former quarterback and current running backs coach Darian Hagan, Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam and Olympians Emma Coburn and Shalaya Kipp.

The parade will begin Friday at 7 pm on the Pearl Street Mall. The parade will start at 11th and Pearl (by Old Chicago) and travel east, towards the Boulder Courthouse.   The football team along with the CU spirit squads will all be a part of the parade.

Directly following the parade, a pep rally will begin outside the courthouse at the 1300 block of Pearl.  Along with the football team, the men's and women's basketball and soccer teams will also be a part of the pep rally.  Coaches and players from each of those four teams will speak at the pep rally.

The parade and pep rally are just a few of the activities that are occurring throughout Homecoming week. All activities will be leading up to the big event as the Buff's take on the Arizona State Sun Devils at 6 pm Saturday night at Folsom Field.  Tickets are still available.  Get in on the Homecoming action!

#CUin60: In an effort to get fans in the stadium to watch the greatest tradition in all of sports – the running of Ralphie – CU is encouraging fans to enter the footprint of the stadium an hour before kickoff.  This will allow fans to get in much quicker through the gates and improve their game day experience as wait times get much longer the closer to kickoff. There are many things for fans to do once inside the stadium including the new Buffs Fan Zone in the new Indoor Practice Facility.  The Buffs Fan Zone is in the footprint and offers 107,000 square feet of entertainment for fans of all ages.  Kids activities are available, the men's and women's basketball teams will be signing autographs and food and drink specials are available the first hour it's open, beginning two hours before kickoff.

CLEAR BAG REMINDER: A reminder that the clear bag policy is in effect for the game this Saturday. Fans may bring one clear bag no larger than 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches, or a one-gallon resealable clear plastic storage bag, into the stadium. Fans will also be allowed one small clutch purse, no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Bags that are no longer allowed into Folsom Field include backpacks, large purses, oversized tote bags, camera bags and binocular cases, diaper bags, fanny packs and printed plastic bags.
Seat cushions and chair backs are still allowed, but they must be 18 inches or less in width and cannot have pockets, zippers or covers.
