Ex-CU standout will play on Denver Summer League team in Las Vegas

DENVER — The Denver Nuggets officially announced their 2016 NBA Summer League roster on Friday and it includes former Colorado standout Josh Scott.

Scott had confirmed earlier this week that he would play with the Nuggets in Las Vegas, but the entire roster did not become official until Friday.

"I'm really excited to get back and practice and start playing some games again," Scott said. "It's a good opportunity for me."

The Nuggets will hold a minicamp Sunday through Thursday in Denver and begin play Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They will then play Memphis and Miami before beginning the single-elimination tournament. All teams participating in the NBA Summer League are guaranteed to play a minimum of five games and teams will be seeded following the preliminary round, with the top eight seeds receiving a first-round bye in the tournament play.

ESPN and NBA TV will televise all 67 games at the annual showcase, culminating with the NBA Summer League Championship Game at 7 p.m July 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Scott, a four-year starter from Monument, helped the Buffs to three NCAA Tournament appearances in his four years in Boulder. He left CU with his name scattered liberally throughout program record book, and is one of just two players in CU history (joining CU Hall of Famer Cliff Meely) to record at least 1,700 points, 900 rebounds and 100 blocked shots in his career. He is also second in free throws made (504) and blocked shots (162), third in rebounds (974) and games started (120), fourth in free throws attempted (655), fifth in minutes played (3.761) and double-doubles (36), sixth in games played (124) and  eighth in scoring (1,709).

CU's Scott is one of several players with local ties. Also on the team will be former Wyoming guard Josh Adams and former Colorado State guard Antwan Scott. Most of the members of the team are rookies or first- or second-year players, but the roster also includes former BYU standout Jimmer Fredette, who has five years of NBA experience.
