July 12, 2016 | Women's Golf

FORT COLLINS – Former University of Colorado golfer Alexis Keating shot a 1-under par 70 here at Fort Collins Country Club and in the process qualified for the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

Keating earned one of the six qualifying spots as she finished third place overall and was one of only three golfers to post a subpar round on the par 71 course. Keating's strong 18-hole performance included a pair of birdies and 15 pars against only one bogey as the recent CU graduate shot a 35 on both the front and back nine.

The Elma, Wash. native is planning to attend the first stage of LPGA qualifying school, which begins next month.

A pair of current Buffs, soon-to-be sophomore Gillian Vance and junior Tori Glenn also participated in the event. Vance finished tied for 20th at 5-over par and Glenn closed her round at plus-9, tying her for 35th place.

The 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship is scheduled for Aug. 1-7 and will be held at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa.
