Krauser Signs Pro Contract In Top League In France

July 06, 2016 | Soccer, Alumni C Club

BOULDER - Former Colorado soccer player Madison Krauser has signed a professional contract to play in France. She will compete as an outside back for ASJ Soyaux-Charente in France's top division, Division 1 Féminine.

"I am extremely excited and super blessed to have the opportunity to continue playing soccer, at a top level," Krauser said. "I still can't believe that my lifelong dream is becoming a reality. I am looking forward to continuously pushing myself to become not only a better athlete, but also person. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for always challenging me and supporting me from day one. Without any of them, I would not be where I am today."

Krauser was a four-year starter for the Buffaloes, wrapping up her career in Boulder this past fall when she was named second-team all-Pac-12. She was recognized as an unselfish player, finishing her career third in CU history with 16 assists. As a senior, she made the move from forward to defense to help fill a void in the back line. She still managed four assists in 2015 despite the position change, and was named the team's Defensive MVP.

Also strong in the classroom, she earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention three times and majored in art practices with minors in both art history and business. She graduated from CU in May with a 3.186 grade point average and still has plans to attend graduate school for graphic design when her playing career allows for time.

In her four season with the Buffs, she led them to a 43-32-10 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

She will be one of three former Buffaloes playing professionally this year. Both Kate Scheele and Bianca Jones are currently playing in Sweden.

"This is a great opportunity for Madi," Sanchez said. "She showed her versatility on the field during her time at CU, and this will help her tremendously as she starts her pro career. Madi has all the tools to make an immediate impact. All of us here in Boulder wish her the best."

Krauser will report to ASJ Soyaux-Charente at the end of the month for training camp in August. The league will begin regular-season play in September.
