January 24, 2018 | General
AURORA — Children's Hospital Colorado (Children's Colorado) and the University of Colorado Buffaloes are pleased to announce a new official partnership that will allow for collaboration on year-round community initiatives.Â
"The University of Colorado Buffaloes are excited to announce this partnership with Children's Colorado," said Rick George, athletic director for the University of Colorado. "One of the most rewarding experiences our student athletes and coaches have had through the years is seeing the joy they bring to children when they visit. Many are our biggest fans, and it's our hope that we can continue to support and inspire them in their daily health battles, and in return be a source of encouragement for our programs."Â
"We look forward to the many opportunities this partnership will bring and a chance to connect more within the community and across the state," said Christy Dobson, director of Corporate and Community Relations at Children's Colorado. "A few exciting highlights include regular visits from student athletes, partnering with the men's basketball team for 'Super Hero' night, and supporting their 'Healthy Kids Day' and 'Women in Sports' events. Together, we plan to provide fun, spirited and unique experiences not only to our patients, families and staff, but to the community as well."Â
The partnership was celebrated at Children's Colorado today with patients, families, staff, CU student athletes, cheerleaders and Chip the mascot.Â
