Six Buffs Garner USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS — The University of Colorado men's and women's cross country teams placed six individuals on the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Teams for the 2017 season.

Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater and must have finished as an All-American (top 40) or among the 15 finishers (or 10 percent) in their regional meet. Â

Senior Kaitlyn Benner recorded her fourth spot of the team with a 3.93 GPA while majoring in chemical and biological engineering. Another senior, Melanie Nun, received her third award. She is a double-major in mathematics and economics with a 3.79 GPA.

Sophomore Sage Hurta and junior Makena Morley were both named to the team for the second time. Hurta has earned a 3.95 GPA while majoring in chemical and biological engineering, while Morley is an anthropology major with a 3.44 GPA. Making an appearance on the team for the first time is sophomore Brianna Schwartz, who is a journalism major with a 3.95 GPA.

Sophomore Joe Klecker, a biochemistry major, recorded his second straight honor with a 3.54 GPA. Â

As a team, the men and women also earned All-Academic honors. The women's team recorded a 3.38 cumulative GPA, while the men recorded a 3.15 cumulative GPA. To qualify for the honor, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
