Clark Runs Second Fastest 5K in School History at Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. – Senior distance runner Erin Clark clocked a 15:37.64 time in the 5,000 meters here Friday night at the Husky Classic. This time is now second all-time for CU behind Jenny Barringer.
WHAT HAPPENED
Senior Erin Clark is continuing to move her name up Colorado record book. Clark ran an impressive 5,000-meter race Friday night clocking a PR time of 15:37.64 to finish third. She finished behind two Olympians in Emily Infeld and Gwen Jorgensen. Her time of 15:37.64 is now the second fastest indoor 5K run by a CU woman as Jenny Barringer owns the school record at 15:01.70.
This time not only puts Clark atop the MPSF conference standings but it is also currently the fourth fastest time in the country.
Makena Morley also ran in the first heat of the 5,000 meters with Clark. Morley finished in seventh clocking a PR time of 15:44.48. This time would put her right behind Clark atop the MPSF current standings and also be top-10 in the country.
On the men's side of the 5,000 meters Ryan Forsyth had a strong day finishing 14th overall. Forsyth finished with a PR time of 13:56.07 which also sits atop the MPSF as of Friday night. This time is the fastest time in the conference by four seconds.
Rajon O'Quinn won the 200 meters crossing the finish line in 24.24. This time is O'Quinn's PR for the event. On the men's side Duane McClurkin Jr. finished second with a time of 21.80.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Jon Maas and Valerie Welch highlighted the sprinter group in Arkansas.
Freshman Jon Maas put together a solid 400-meter race, not only earning a PR for the event but produced a time that moves up the conference standings. Maas clocked a 47.62 time to finish 11th overall. He took 0.74 seconds off his previous time of 48.36 from the CU Invitational. This time now sits fourth in the MPSF standings behind Zach Shinnick and Ricky Morgan Jr. from USC and Ryan Croson from Washington.
On the women's side, freshman Valerie Welch had a strong day in the 60 meter hurdles and the long jump. In the 60 meter hurdles, Welch clocked a PR time of 8.55 to finish 12 overall. This time pushes her into the top-10 of the MPSF standings.

"The highlight of my group was Jon Maas with a big collegiate PR in the 400 meters and Valerie Welch with a PR in the 60 meter hurdles.
