Buffs Move Up to 14th In IWLCA Poll
March 26, 2018 | Lacrosse
BOULDER — The Colorado women's lacrosse team moved up one position to 14th in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll and held steady at 15th in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse media poll and the NIKE/US Lacrosse Magazine poll.
The Buffaloes earned a 14-9 win against Oregon on March 23 to improve to 7-3 overall. Junior Samantha Nemirov tallied a career-high six goals in the game, five of which came in the second half as the Buffs out-scored the Ducks 8-3. She also added an assist for a career-best seven points. Senior Darby Kiernan and junior Miranda Stinson each had three goals in the win. Kiernan also had 12 draw controls in the contest, accounting for all but three of CU's 15.
The Pac-12 Conference, which has a three-way tie at the top of the standings as CU, Stanford and Southern California all finished the first half of the league schedule with a 4-1 record. CU is ranked the highest in the IWLCA Poll (14th), while SU is 14th in the media poll. USC is 14th in the USL poll.
Colorado will play its final non-conference game of the regular season on Thursday, March 29, against in-state rival Denver. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium and will be televised live on Altitude.
