Colorado Receiving Votes in AVCA Preseason Poll

LEXINGTON, Kent. – The University of Colorado women's volleyball team is receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Poll, the AVCA announced Tuesday afternoon.

Colorado received three votes, making the team 41st in the nation in votes received. CU has 10 of its 20 different opponents ranked or receiving votes for the upcoming season, which includes 18 of 30 matches of team that are ranked or receiving votes.

The battle between the top two conference continues as the BIG TEN received seven total teams in the top-25, including have of the top-10 teams in the nation. The Pac-12 had six teams inside the top-25, though only one inside the top-10. The two conferences combined have more teams in the top-25 than the rest of the nation, while the ACC, Big-12 and SEC tallied seven total teams.

Defending national champion Stanford holds the top spot in the nation, followed by the runner-up Nebraska. The two teams have flip-flopped the last four national titles with Stanford edging the Huskers last year in a five-set battle.

Colorado's first ranked opponent will come in the Pac-12 vs. BIG TEN Challenge in Iowa City, Iowa, when CU and No. 13-Washington take on Iowa and No.6 Illinois.

The Buffaloes ranked opponents or receiving votes include; No.1 Stanford, No. 6 Illinois, No. 11 Oregon, No. 13 Washington, No. 14 USC, No. 22 Washington State, No. 24 Arizona, Utah (RV/56), CSU (RV/51) and UCLA (RV/7).
