Sarah Morton Transfers To The Buffs
December 21, 2023 | Volleyball
The libero spent two seasons at Auburn before joining the Buffs.
BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's volleyball team added their newest member to the herd this week as libero Sarah Morton announced that she'll be transferring to CU.
"We are very excited to welcome Sarah to Boulder," commented head coach Jesse Mahoney. "With her experience as a two-year starter for a top program and the energy she brings to the libero position, she will impact our program immediately. We are lucky to have her join us in January, giving her the opportunity to get a head start in our systems and our team culture."
Morton comes to Colorado after playing for two seasons at Auburn University, where she majored in marketing. During her time as a Tiger, Morton recorded 750 digs and averaged 3.69 digs a set. In the 2022 season, Morton earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors after a series sweep at Alabama. She earned 39 digs across the two matches and helped her team hold the Crimson Tide's hitting percentage under .200 in each match.
With a 20-10 record this season, Auburn earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, where the Tigers fell to Western Michigan in three sets in the first round of the tournament. Morton posted 13 digs in the match.
Morton said that she knew CU was the right place for her almost immediately.
"After visiting Colorado, I fell in love with the coaches, the team, and the school," Morton said. "The resources provided to the student-athletes at CU are unmatched, and once I stepped foot on campus, I knew I found my new home."
Morton will join the Buffs in January to begin training with the team.
"This team has such an amazing culture, and I am so excited to grow together with girls and get to work in the spring!" Morton concluded.
