College—2019-20 (Jr.): He did not compete during the fall season and plans at midyear were to redshirt and return to competition in the fall.
2018-19 (Soph.): Had the second-best stroke average on the team for the fall season (72.07 for 15 rounds) … He had two top five finishes, including his first collegiate victory when he shared medalist honors in CU’s own Mark Simpson Invitational; he shot a 9-under 207 that included 68s in the first and final rounds. He had a team-high of 13 birdies with 37 pars and only four bogeys, while leading the 96-man field in par-4 scoring (8-under par) … Had a run of 32 straight holes of par or better (beginning in the last round of Utah’s Showdown and into the second round of the Simpson) … He had opened the year tying for fifth in the Air Force Miranda Invitational, posting a 4-under 212 with a second round 67 … The epitome of consistency, as he averaged 72.2 strokes for his first rounds and 72.0 for both the second and third … Recorded three rounds in the 60s for the fall, with six subpar rounds, both second-best on the team, along with tying for the most rounds counting toward team scoring (1.000; all 15 did so) … He led the team in pars (185) and tied for the lead in percentage of holes of par or better (85.2 percent, or 230 of 270) … Had 39 pars in two events (AFA, New Mexico) and 38 in a third (Utah) to go with the 37 in CU’s meet … Had a team-best two rounds with no bogeys (or worse).
2017-18 (Fr.): He played in 11 events, including seven as a designated scorer for the team (of which 16 of 22 counted toward CU’s team score) … He owned a 73.27 stroke average for 33 rounds, including a 73.67 norm for 21 spring rounds … He led the team in even-par rounds with eight, and had 14 rounds of par or better … Saw 102 of his holes played 594 come in under par (100 birdies and two eagles, or 17.2 percent) … His top finish came in the fall in CU’s own Mark Simpson Invitational, when he tied for 18th (213, -3); he was tied for third after an opening bogey-free round 68, his best individual round score for the fall season … Recorded his best individual round, a 5-under 66, in the second round of Stanford’s “The Goodwin,” where he would tie for 27th with an even-par scorecard (213) … Breaking down his scoring, the middle rounds were his best with a 72.36 figure … Though he tied for 58th in the Pac-12 Championships (73-71-75-73—292), as CU’s sixth man he had three of his four rounds count toward CU’s score as the Buffs finished second … Traveled with the team to the NCAA West Regional under a new rule that a sixth player could be substituted into the lineup, but was not activated … He played in four fall tournaments (three with the team) and finished with a 72.58 average, third-best by a true freshman in school history (bested by 72.5s by Kane Webber in 1999 and by Yannik Paul in 2013) … He opened his career with a 29th place tie in the Air Force Invitational with an even-par 216 (he had 12 birdies and 32 pars against eight bogeys and two doubles), with five of those birdies coming on his final 11 holes; that rally enabled him to record CU’s third best performance for a golfer playing in his first collegiate tournament, with the second-best score in relation to par (in the 1990 Wyoming Invitational, Jonathan Kaye shot a 76-72-65—213, the low gross score but 3-over on a par-70 course; in the 2008 DU-Ron Moore Invitational, Sebastian Heisele turned in a 2-under 67-73-74—214) ... He played his first three tournaments as an individual but was a designated scorer for the fall finale, where he tied for 63rd with a 1-over 217 in Hawai’i’s Princeville Intercollegiate (his second round 69 was 25th-best for the second 18 holes).
High School—He finished in the top 10 of the Colorado 5A High School championships three times: as a senior, he placed ninth with a 74-71—145 (+3) scorecard at his home course, Bookcliff Country Club; was third as a junior at Fort Collins Country Club with a 74-69—143 (+1) effort, five shots out of the lead; and was 10th as a sophomore (73-77—150), seven back of the top spot … A three-time, first-team All-State performer his sophomore through senior years, he owned a 68.5 stroke average his senior season.
Other—2019: Won the Saguaro Amateur in Maricopa, Ariz., right after the New Year with an 8-under 208 score (71-67-70) at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes (took over the lead after the second round and won by one stroke) … That win enabled him to be the 2018-19 Troon Saguaro Amateur Series point champion (three events). 2018: Finished fifth in the Gobbler Amateur in Tucson (day before Thanksgiving), firing a 4-under scorecard of 73-69-67—209 … He advanced out of U.S. Open Local Qualifying by tying for second with a 3-under 69 at the Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster (he had four birdies and one bogey, finishing one shot out of the lead), but missed the cut in Sectional action in Richmond, Texas (76-74—150) … Placed ninth in the Sizzler Amateur in Scottsdale, with a 73-75-68—216 scorecard (even) … Tied for 37th in the Southwestern Amateur (73-69-68-76—286, +6) at The Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale … Tied for 16th in the Saguaro Amateur (74-72-68—214, -2) at Southern Dunes Golf Club (Maricopa, Ariz.). 2017: He missed the cut in the Southwestern Amateur (Desert Mountain CC, Scottsdale, Ariz.) by four strokes, having turned in a 74-74—148 scorecard (+8). 2016: Had an impressive summer in amateur play, winning the JGAC Tour Championship (70-69—139 at Cherry Hills Country Club), and posting a runner-up finish in the AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior (a nine-under scorecard of 67-73-67—207 at Highlands Ranch Golf Club) … Also recorded a 72-70—142 score in the U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier at the Heritage Course in Westminster, tying for second (he missed the cut in the finals).
