Soccer Season Kicks Off Next Week, Scrimmage Set For Aug. 5
July 26, 2018 | Soccer
Season tickets are available at CUBuffs.com
BOULDER – Colorado's 2018 soccer season is just around the corner with the team reporting to campus on Monday, July 30, and beginning training the following day. The Buffs will conduct two-a-day practices for the first two weeks of camp with an off-day each week.
The season kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 16, at Air Force at 6 p.m. The home opener is slated for Sunday, Aug. 19, against Colorado State at 3:30 p.m. at Prentup Field.
BLACK & GOLD SCRIMMAGE
The team will hold a day of festivities for fans around an intrasquad scrimmage on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Prentup Field. The day will open with a youth clinic for kids 12-and-under at 11:30 a.m. Following the clinic, fans will have a chance to meet the team at 12:30 for photos and autographs. The Buffs will then hold their Black & Gold Scrimmage at 1 p.m.
To RSVP for the youth clinic, please fill out the form at this link.
SEASON TICKETS
Season tickets are on sale at CUBuffs.com through this link. General admission tickets start at $35 and include all 12 home matches at Prentup Field. The premium admission level of $80 includes a 2018 Colorado soccer t-shirt, entrance to the facility at the concierge table with complimentary water and snacks at each match, and a CU clear bag. The Prentup Platinum level of $500 that includes a reserved parking spot has already sold out.
Kids 12-and-under and CU students receive free admission to all home matches.
The t-shirts this year replace the team scarves that have been given to season ticket holders in previous seasons.
FOREIGN TOUR NEXT SUMMER
Scarves will be available once again this season, but they will be for a fundraiser for the team's trip to France next summer. The Buffs are set to take their foreign tour to France to experience a new culture, compete in several exhibition matches, and watch the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in-person.
"The opportunity to go to France to compete against professional squads, while also taking in the FIFA Women's World Cup is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the players in our program," head coach Danny Sanchez said earlier this summer. "It's an opportunity to compete and catch the highest level of soccer in the world, but we're also able to bond as a team and a program. We went to Spain in 2015, and while the soccer is very important, the cultural and learning experience for our team and the players within it are really the biggest benefits of taking tours like this. We're very excited and it will be a great preparation for our 2019 season as we get to train and compete."
The cost for the trip is high—roughly $3,500 per person—but worth it for an experience the student-athletes will never forget.
Anyone interested in helping sponsor that trip can contact Gabbie Pelloni at gabbie.pelloni@colorado.edu.
