Colorado Slips To 21st In AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. — After starting the season 2-1, the University of Colorado volleyball team slipped to 21^st in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, which was released on Monday.

The Buffs opened the season with a pair of wins against Oral Roberts (3-1) and North Florida (3-0), before falling just shy against Wyoming (2-3). CU is playing without senior middle blocker Naghede Abu, who is out due to injury. She is expected back in a few weeks.

The Pac-12 Conference is once again well represented in the poll with seven teams in the top 25. Stanford is the favorite, while Southern California is seventh. UCLA is ranked 10^thand Washington is 13^th. Oregon (18^th), Colorado (21^st) and Utah (22^nd) round out the poll for the league. In addition to seven teams in the poll, another three are receiving votes: Washington State, Oregon State and Arizona.

Colorado will stay on the road this week for the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge in Seattle. The Buffs will face No. 11 Illinois on Friday, August 31, and Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 1. Both matches are scheduled for 6 p.m. MT and will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
