Elliott Announces 11 Newcomers To 2018-19 Roster

BOULDER — The future of Colorado lacrosse looks bright as CU head coach Ann Elliott has announced the addition of 11 student-athletes to the 2018-19 roster.
 
The group consists of four east coast natives, a trio from California, two from Colorado and one from Georgia and Indiana.

Kasey Braun
ELLIOTT ON BRAUN: We are excited to coach Kasey. She is an all-around solid player. She is strong through the midfield, and capable of making impact plays on both the offensive and defensive ends. Kasey has a lot of potential and will add more depth to our midfield.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Kasey Braun graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in 2018 and earned four letters as a midfielder on the lacrosse team. During her career, she recorded 249 goals, 152 assists, 355 draw controls and 238 ground balls. A U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American her senior year, Braun was named the North Bay League (NBL) MVP her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Braun lists beating Casa Grande in the North Bay League Tournament as the biggest moment of her prep career. CNHS had previously lost to Casa Grande twice and came back to beat them in the third game. Braun was also a standout in the classroom. She was named a U.S. Lacrosse High School Academic All-American as well as an AP Scholar. She was also nominated for the Press Democrat All-Empire Scholar Athlete of the Year. The two-time team captain was also named a North Coast Section Scholar Athlete all four years of high school.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for Tenacity Bay Area Elite Blue from 2013-18 and in 2015, she played for Pacific Nor-Cal National Team.       
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Braun intends to major in environmental engineering and is also interested in English and history. After graduation, she would like to be a physical therapist or athletic trainer.

PERSONAL: Kasey Braun was born on January 20, 2000 in Greenbrae, Calif. She is the daughter of Eric Braun and Kathy Damiani. Her mom helped start the club program at CU. She enjoys rock-climbing, traveling, hiking and backpacking. Braun lists her favorite foods as Italian and sushi and her favorite professional team is the Golden State Warriors. Hawkins was also recruited by California, Harvard and Navy.
 
 
Kate Burnside
ELLIOTT ON BURNSIDE: We are excited to welcome Kate to Colorado. Kate has been so fun to watch develop over her high school career. She is a tough midfielder with great speed and a competitive edge. She plays extremely hard on both ends of the field and through the midfield. I am excited about Kate's potential and look forward to coaching her in our systems.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Kate Burnside graduated from Cathedral High School in 2018 and earned four letters as a member of the lacrosse team and one on the cross country team. She recorded 105 goals, 30 assists and 125 ground balls as a senior and helped her team to an 18-4 record as the Fighting Irish placed second at the state championship. Cathedral won the state title the year prior (17-1) and in 2015 (17-2). In 2016, CHS was again the runner-up (16-2). Burnside, a two-time team captain, was named first team all-state her junior and senior years in addition to earning All-America honors.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for Indy United.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Burnside intends to major in communication.

PERSONAL: Katherine Kolbe Burnside was born on July 16, 2000 in Indianapolis, Ind. She is the daughter of Rom and Mimi Burnside. She enjoys hiking, running and traveling. Burnside lists her favorite food as mashed potatoes and her favorite professional team is the Indianapolis Colts.
 
 
Bridget Cain
ELLIOTT ON CAIN: We feel fortunate to have Bridget in our program. She came into our program later in the process and we are really excited about her potential. She is a solid midfielder, who competes on both ends of the field and is always a steady presence. I look forward to seeing how Bridget will continue to develop here at Colorado and working with her to take her game to that next level.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Bridget Cain is a 2018 graduate of San Juan Hills High School where she was as a member of the lacrosse and cross country teams. Cain earned four letters on the lacrosse team and was named the mvp twice. As a senior, she recorded 40 goals and 17 assists in addition to 45 ground balls. In her four year career, she set a school record with 45 assists. Cain was selected to the All-South Coast League First Team and the Orange County Second Team as a junior and senior. An excellent student, she was her school's valedictorian and was a scholar athlete all four years.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for West Coast Stars (2017-18), Victory Select (2016-17) and New Image Black Diamond-Guest (2016-17).
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Braun intends to major in mechanical engineering.

PERSONAL: Bridget Noel Cain was born on February 23, 2000 in Mission Viejo, Calif. She is the daughter of Frank and Jana Cain. She enjoys hiking, biking, climbing and surfing and lists her favorite foods as avocado, milk and mac'n'cheese.
 
 
Bailey Hawkins
ELLIOTT ON HAWKINS: We are excited to welcome Bailey to our Buff family. Bailey is a great athlete who will add depth, speed and strength to our midfield. She plays incredibly hard and uses her strength well. She has so much potential at the college level and I am excited to start working with her.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Bailey Hawkins is a 2018 graduate of Cambridge High School, where she earned four letters as a member of the lacrosse team playing attack and midfield. As a senior, Hawkins posted some impressive stats, scoring 68 goals in addition to 14 assists and 104 goals as CHS earned a 16-5 mark. In her four seasons at CHS, she recorded 144 goals, 39 assists and 249 draw controls. A two-time team captain, Hawkins earned U.S. Lacrosse All-America honors as a senior and junior and was also all-state both seasons. She played in the 2017 Under Armour All-America game for the south and recently graduated with honors. As a sophomore, Hawkins was selected to the all-state second team.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for EagleStix.      
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Bayer intends to major in integrative physiology. After graduation, she would like to be a physical therapist or athletic trainer.
 
PERSONAL: Bailey Nicole Hawkins was born on March 17, 2000 in Milton, Ga., to Holmes and Tracey Hawkins. Her father was a competitive swimmer and swam at Georgia Tech. Her favorite foods are burgers and steaks and she lists the Atlanta Falcons as her favorite team. Hawkins was also recruited by several other top programs in USC, UMass, UConn, Richmond and Ohio State.
 
 
Kat O'Connor
ELLIOTT ON O'CONNOR: We are excited to welcome another O'Connor to Colorado. Kat is a strong defender with a great lacrosse IQ on the defensive end. She will add depth and athleticism to our defense. I look forward to coaching her and helping her continue to take her game to the next level in our program.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Kat O'Connor played four seasons for Concord Carlisle Regional High School. During her senior year, she recorded 35 caused turnovers and 35 ground balls as her team recorded a 15-7 record. O'Connor earned 34 caused turnovers and 27 ground balls while helping her team to a 17-4 mark her junior season. She was named a dual country league all-star both of those season.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for Mass Elite.        
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: O'Connor intends to major in sociology.  

PERSONAL: Katherine 'Kat' O'Connor was born on October 25, 1999. She is the daughter of John and Sheila O'Connor of Concord, Mass. Her father played football at Denison and her mother played soccer at Merrimack. She is the second member of her family to play for the Buffs as her older sister, Annee, was a goalkeeper for CU (2015-18). O'Connor lists her favorite foods as steak and pasta and her favorite professional team is the New England Patriots.
 
 
Liz Phillips
ELLIOTT ON PHILLIPS: We are always excited to welcome another Colorado native into our program. It has been fun to watch Liz play at the high school level and continue to develop every season. She is a solid midfielder with great speed and athleticism. Liz has the potential to play on either end of the field and make a huge impact for us. I am excited to coach Liz and help her bring her game to the next level.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A multi-sport athlete, Liz Phillips graduated from Palmer Ridge High School in 2018, earning four letters as a midfielder on the lacrosse team. She was tabbed the PRHS Outstanding Female Athlete and earned the Jackie Pitts Award following her senior year. Phillips earned All-America and Academic All-America honors following the 2018 campaign and was also all-state and all-conference. She was also selected to the all-conference first team as a junior and sophomore, in addition to earning second team honors as a freshman. Phillips also earned two letters in basketball and four in field hockey. She helped PRHS win the state title in 2017, scoring the game-winning goal in triple overtime. Phillips was all-state first team as a senior and earned second team all-state honors as a junior, sophomore and freshman. Besides winning the state championships in 2017, the field hockey team was the state runner-up her junior and freshman seasons. An academic letterman all four years, she was the PRHS Student Body Vice-President her senior year. Phillips earned first team academic all-state honors for both lacrosse and field hockey her senior and junior years.

CLUB TEAM: She played for Team 180 Lacrosse from 2013-18. 

IN THE CLASSROOM: Phillips plans to major in integrative physiology and is also interested in environmental studies.  
 
PERSONAL: Elizabeth Phillips was born on Oct. 15, 1999 in Monument, Colo., to Mike and Tori Phillips. She enjoys spending time outdoors are some of her favorite activities include paddle boarding, hiking and snowboarding. Les Miserables is her favorite book and movie and her favorite professional team is the Cleveland Cavaliers. Other teams to recruit Phillips included Denver, Marquette and Princeton.


Sabrina Robbins
ELLIOTT ON ROBBINS: We are excited to welcome Sabrina to Colorado. She is a solid midfielder with a strong defense presence. Sabrina will add depth to our midfield as well as speed and athleticism. I am really excited to start coaching Sabrina in our systems and see where she ends up for us on the field.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Sabrina Robbins is a 2018 graduate of Sharon High School, where she earned letters in soccer and lacrosse. In her lacrosse career, she scored 253 points with 175 goals and 78 assists. As a senior, she served as the team captain for both the lacrosse and soccer teams. Robbins was named a Hockomock League All-State her sophomore through senior seasons. During her junior year, she was named an Eastern Mass Division I First Team All-Star and Sharon HS MVP as she helped the team to the Mass/RI 1 High School Championship. In addition, Robbins was also named an Under Armour UnderClass All-American. During her senior year, she was tabbed an Eastern Mass Division 1 Second Team All-Star and an Inside Lacrosse Watchlist Top High School Senior. Robbins also excelled in school and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language National Honor Society.

CLUB TEAM: She played for Massachusetts Elite from 2011-18. 
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Robbins intends to major in business, but is also interested in Chinese as she hopes to pursue a profession in international business.

PERSONAL: Sabrina Robbins was born on January 13, 2000. She is the daughter of Alan and Tammy Robbins. She enjoys playing different sports, cooking and listening to music. Her favorite team is the New England Patriots and her favorite athlete is Tom Brady. Robbins was also recruited by Colgate and Brown.
 
 
Charlie Rudy
ELLIOTT ON RUDY: We are excited to have Charlie in our Buff family. She has had an incredible career so far and I believe she really is just getting started. She is a versatile attacker, with great quickness and a good stick. She has the potential to play in a lot of different positions for us offensively and we are excited to get her working in our offense.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Charlie Rudy graduated from Novato High School in 2018 where she lettered in lacrosse and helped NHS win the Marin Country Athletic League and DI North Coast Section championship all four seasons. She scored 147 goals as a senior and as a junior, tallied 160 goals. Rudy has earned national recognition for her play on the lacrosse field. As a senior, she was named a preseason All-American and an Under Armour All-American after the season ended. She was also tabbed the NHS Player of the Year. Rudy was invited to try out for the U19 women's national lacrosse team. As a junior, She was tabbed to US Lacrosse Magazine West Coast Player of the Year and was an MCAL First Team All-League selection. Rudy was named the MCAL Player of the Year after an outstanding sophomore season and was also an MCAL First Team All-League honoree as a freshman.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for Stick With It! And Tenecity Elite Lacrosse.  
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Rudy is interested in studying engineering.

PERSONAL: Charlie Rudy was born on February 15, 2000, in Novato, Calif., to Mike and Mikie Rudy. She enjoys being outdoors, hiking, being with friends, traveling and cooking. Rudy lists her favorite food as pasta and her favorite professional athlete is Kevin Durant. She chose CU over Oregon, Stanford, UC Davis, SDSU and Fresno State.
 
 
Pearl Schwartz
ELLIOTT ON SCHWARTZ: We are excited to welcome another Cherry Creek player into our program. They have a great tradition of lacrosse and I believe Pearl will make a great impact on our program once she is healthy. Every year Pearl has continued to challenge herself and take her game up a level. I have no doubt she will add depth to our program once she gets healthy, and we are excited to have her on campus now and be able to work with her through her ACL rehab process.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Pearl Schwartz graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 2018 where she earned four letters as a member of the lacrosse team. A midfielder and an attacker, she helped her team advance to the state championship title game from 2015-18. The loss at the state meet in 2018 was CCHS's only loss of the season as it finished 18-1. Schwartz was named all-league first team her sophomore, junior and senior seasons and was all-state her sophomore and junior seasons. She was also named an All-American after her junior season. Schwartz also excelled in the classroom and was named an Academic All-American.   

CLUB TEAM: She played club from Team 180.         
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Schwartz is undecided on a major, but is interested in math and engineering.   

PERSONAL: Pearl Schwartz was born on Sept. 11, 2000 in Englewood, Colo. She is the daughter of Chris and Suzanne Schwartz. Her sister, Lucy, plays lacrosse at Chapman. Her favorite musical artists are Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber and her favorite professional team is the Denver Broncos.
 
 
Andie Stave
ELLIOTT ON STAVE: We are excited to welcome Andie into our Buff family. She is a strong goalie who is eager to learn. I am excited for her to start working with Mitch on a daily basis. She is a competitor and I look forward to watching her compete every day for us.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Andie Stave played four seasons for Wootton High School as the team's goalkeeper. She set the school record for most saves during the regular season with 117. As a senior, her team earned a 9-8 record and she was named the team's mvp. Stave earned the Sports and Academic Excellency Award all four years of high school.

CLUB TEAM: She played club for Rockville Girls Lacrosse Club (2008-13), Rockville Gazette (2012-13) and MC Elite (2013-17.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Stave intends to major in chemistry.  

PERSONAL: Andie Stave was born on January 4, 2000 in Silver Spring, Md. She is the daughter of Todd and Randi Stave. Her uncle, Charles Kaplan, played lacrosse at Maryland and her grandfather, Robert Kaplan, played football at West Virginia Weslyan. Stave was also recruited by Cincinnati, Mount Saint Mary's, Penn and Vermont. She lists her favorite musical group as Red Hot Chili Peppers and her favorite sports team is the Washington Capitals.
 
 
Chloe Willard
ELLIOTT ON WILLARD: We are excited to welcome Chloe to Colorado. She is a strong, dynamic attacker that will add to our depth offensively. She has a great lacrosse IQ, great stickwork and has the potential to play in a lot of different spots for us offensively. As a staff, we are excited to start working with Chloe and help her take her game to the next level.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Chloe Willard graduated from Cazenovia Central School in 2018 where she lettered in lacrosse. Willard recorded 220 goals and 52 assists in four seasons, including 74 goals and 12 assists her senior year, which made her the second leading goal scorer in all of Section III N.Y. She was named the Cazenovia Offensive MVP her senior and sophomore years and was the Cazenovia MVP as a junior. Willard was tabbed a first team all-league selection her senior, junior and sophomore years and was an honorable mention selection as a freshman.

CLUB TEAM: She played for Orange Crush (Syracuse).  
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Willard is undecided on a major.  

PERSONAL: Chloe Elizabeth Willard was born on June 6, 2000, in Annapolis, Md. She is the daughter of Brian and Jeanne Willard of Cazenovia, N.Y. Lacrosse is in her blood as many in her family have played in college. Her father played at Maryland (1983-87) and two uncles, Phil and Dave Willard, also played at Maryland. Her brother, Cole, currently plays at Penn State as an attacker/midfielder, and her cousin, Sarah Willard, is a defender at Towson. Other programs that recruited Willard include UConn, Florida and Binghamton.
