BOULDER—Men's golfer Daniel O'Loughlin and women's tennis player Maria Campos were named the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow, for the week of Sept. 23-29.
Daniel O'Loughlin, a senior from Nottingham, England, led the Buffaloes to a seventh-place finish in New Mexico's Tucker Invitational. O'Loughlin tied for 25th with a 4-over par, 220 score (73-71-76). He wrapped things up with a 76 as he had 12 pars with four bogeys and a double with no birdies. He did, however, have an eagle on the first hole, which is a 544-yard, par-5. It was his second eagle this year and the fifth of his career here at CU.
Maria Campos, a freshman from Laredo, Texas, won the fifth flight in the Rice Fall Tournament in her debut for Colorado tennis. Campos went 3-0 on her way to the championship, as she fought through a pair of tough three-set matches as she closed out the title with a nail-biting 7-5 second set tiebreaker.
