Dressel And Hurta Named CU Athletes Of The Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER – Cross Country's John Dressel and Sage Hurta were named the CU Athletes of The Week, presented by Arrow, for the week of Oct. 14-20.
Dressel, a senior from Cobert, Wash., led the Buffs to a second-place team finish last Saturday at NCAA Pre-Nationals as he placed eighth overall in the 8-kilometer race. He crossed the finish in 23:34.4, just a split second in front of teammate Joe Klecker (23:35.3) who was ninth. Dressel ran a smart and steady race as he was near the head of the field the entire race. Dressel dropped back ever so slightly to 11th at the 5k mark before moving up to eighth at the finish. As a team, the No. 3 ranked Buffs finished just two points behind the No. 2 BYU Cougars (81-83).
Hurta, a senior from Hamilton, N.Y., ran an excellent 6-kilometer race at NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, moving up steadily to finish third overall. She was 17th after the first two kilometers, but by the 4k split, she had moved up to 10th. She kept the momentum going and passed several more for her finish, which is her highest finish at pre-nationals. Hurta's time of 20:10.0 was less than a second behind the runner-up, Auburn's Joyce Kimeli (20:09.4). It was also just a fraction ahead of BYU's Courtney Wayment, who placed fourth in 20:10.8. As a team, CU finished third overall.

Soccer - Gabbi Chapa
The junior defender scored her first career goal and added an assist in CU's 2-1 win over Arizona State. She also assisted on Tessa Barton's goal in the 49th minute to give the Buffs a 2-0 lead. Chapa now leads all CU defenders with five points (1 G, 3 A) this season.
Football – Davion Taylor
The senior outside linebacker led the Buff's in tackles against Washington State with 10 solo and one assisted. He had five stops at or behind the line of scrimmage. Taylor also added two third-down stops and two pass break ups.
