Klecker And Kornieck Named CU Athletes Of The Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER - Cross country's Joe Klecker and soccer's Taylor Kornieck were named the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow, for the time period of Sept. 30 – Oct. 6.
Klecker, a senior distance runner from Minnetonka, Minn., led the fourth-ranked Buffs to a victory at the Joe Piane Invitational in South Bend, Ind., last Friday. The two-time All-American and his teammates defeated Ole Miss 71-107 and Klecker recorded a third-place finish at the meet, finishing the 5-mile race in 23:17.83.
Kornieck, a senior from Henderson, Nev., pushed past Nikki Marshall to become Colorado's all-time career points leader after scoring three minutes into Thursday's match against Oregon. She now has 95 career points, breaking the record in 71 career matches. Kornieck ranks third in the Pac-12 with team-high 23 points (9 G, 5 A) this season. The Buff's record stands at 9-2-1 midway through the season.

Rachel Whipple, Volleyball – The senior libero had 17 digs against Arizona State and 20 against Arizona to finish with 37, tallying more than five per set in the two matches.
Alex Kinney, Football – The senior punter had five punts against Arizona averaging 46.8 yards. He landed three inside the 20-yard line and now has 83 punts within the 20-yard line in his career.
Sage Hurta, Cross Country – The senior recorded a 10th place finish at the Joe Piane Invitational last Friday in South Bend, Ind., finishing the 5-kilometer race in 16:29.82. The Buffs finished second as a team.
Alisha Lau, Golf – The redshirt sophomore had her highest finish of the season as she tied for ninth at the Molly Collegiate Invitational. She finished the two-day event with a 6-over 222 and carded rounds of 77-71-74.
