Schneggenburger And Nixon Named CU Athletes Of The Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER – Football's K.D. Nixon and volleyball's Jill Schneggenburger were named the CU Athletes of the week, presented by Arrow, for the period of Sept. 2-8.
Nixon, a junior from DeSoto, Texas, caught six passes for 164 yards and a touchdown against Nebraska in the Buffs 34-31 overtime win on Saturday at Folsom Field. He hooked up with Steven Montez on a 96-yard flea-flicker early in the fourth quarter to pull the Buffs within three points at 17-14 after the Buffs fell behind 17-0. The throw and catch was the longest play from scrimmage in Buffs history and was integral in the successful comeback. It has since been dubbed one of, if not the, best flea-flicker in football history.
Schneggenburger, a freshman from Irvine, Calif., was named to the Pac-12/BIG TEN All-Tournament team after having 20 kills for a combined .527 hitting percentage with only a single error. The outside hitter hit .611 against No.5 Illinois with a dozen kills. She also had three blocks and an ace.Schneggenburger helped lead CU to an undefeated weekend and a 5-0 start overall.

Roo Yarnell-Williams, Soccer – The freshman scored both game winning goals against Austin Peay and Baylor. She has totaled three goals in her first six matches and helped lead the soccer team to a 6-0 start.
John Paterson, Men's Golf - The sophomore led the Buffaloes to the team victory at the Air Force Falcon Invitational in Colorado Springs. He helped CU defend its title by turning in a 70-70-73—213 (3-under par) effort, which tied him for ninth. It was his first tournament under par as a collegian. Opening up the final round with five straight pars, he had a solid tournament with 12 birdies and 32 pars against nine bogeys and one double on USAFA's 7,511-yard, par-72 Eisenhower Blue course. He ended his round with one of his two birdies Sunday.
