BOULDER — University of Colorado sophomore Charlie Rudy has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after leading the 25th-ranked Buffaloes to a 2-0 weekend at home with 12 goals and four assists.
Â
The Buffs (3-2, 1-0 Pac-12) defeated Oregon in the Pac-12 opener on March 6 at Kittredge Field, 21-5. Rudy scored four times for the Buffs and added three assists for seven points.
Â
But the best performance came on March 8 when Rudy tied a CU single-game record with eight goals against Coastal Carolina. The only other Buff to score eight goals was Miranda Stinson on March 10, 2019, against California. Rudy added an assist for nine points, which put her tied for third on CU's single-game points chart. She took nine shots in the game and all were on goal. Rudy added two ground balls and had a pair of caused turnovers in CU's 19-8 victory against CCU.
Â
The attacker from Novato, Calif., is the third Buff to be named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week since 2018. Darby Kiernan earned the honor five times, while Stinson was selected four times. CU has also picked up the defensive player of the week honor four times. Teammate Julia Lisella picked up the defensive honor for the second time in her career earlier this season on Feb. 10. In total, seven Buffs have combined for 15 Pac-12 weekly honors since 2018.
Â
Colorado continues Pac-12 play this week in Northern California. The Buffs will face California (2-5, 0-2 Pac-12) on March 13 and on March 15, CU will take on 24th-ranked Stanford (3-4, 1-1).
