Lau, Webster Named WGCA All-American Scholars

BOULDER — Two University of Colorado women's golfers have been Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars for the 2019-20 season.
Junior Alisha Lau and sophomore Kelsey Webster were named to the prestigious list on Monday, becoming the 15th and 16th student-athletes in the program's history to earn the distinction. Both are first-time recipients of the award.
To be eligible for WGCA Golf All-American Scholar status, an individual must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) and must have played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the season (not including postseason, which obviously didn't come into play this year with the pandemic).
"I'm very proud of both Alisha and Kelsey," CU head coach Anne Kelly said. "Maintaining a 3.5-plus GPA is very difficult for any student, but earning that GPA in addition to playing competitive golf is a quite an accomplishment. Both of these team members have worked hard for this honor and are deserving of the award."
Lau is a Strategic Communication major with an emphasis in Media Studies and finished with the second-best stroke average on the team this past season (73.62); she led the team with five top 20 finishes. Webster is a Psychology major and is minoring is Sociology; she owned a 77.58 stroke norm for 12 rounds.
Senior Elle Otten made the team for the 2018-19 season, but fell just short of the minimum number of rounds to qualify for a repeat honor.
