Colorado Heads To NCAA Pre-Nationals
October 13, 2021 | Cross Country
BOULDER — The University of Colorado cross country teams will face several nationally ranked programs Friday, October 15, at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla.
Â
Florida State University is the host of this year's pre-national meet as the host of the NCAA Championship in November. The meet will take place at Apalachee Regional Park.
Â
CU's men are currently ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA Division I Coaches Poll and will race in the men's 8-kilometer Garnet race at 6 a.m. MT against 39 other teams. Twelve of those teams are ranked in the top-30, while another two are receiving votes. Most notably, the poll's top two teams, Northern Arizona and Notre Dame, respectively, will be racing against the Buffs. One other team, BYU, is entered in the race that is seated higher than CU in the rankings as the Cougars are currently fifth.
Â
The Colorado women are the highest-ranked team in the 6k garnet race, coming in at fifth in the latest poll. The next highest ranked team in the race is Pac-12 opponent Utah, which is 10th. In total there are nine ranked teams and another five receiving votes in the field of 36 teams. The women's garnet race is set to start at 6:35 a.m. MT.
Â
There are two open races following the garnet races and the Buffaloes will have entries in each. The open men's race will start at 7:10 a.m. and the women's open race is scheduled for 7:45 a.m.
