Boee Sweeps RMISA Men's Nordic MVP Honors

March 06, 2021 | Skiing

BOULDER – Sophomore Magnus Boee added two more awards for his spectacular season Saturday, as he was named the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Men's Nordic MVP for both classic and freestyle by the league.

This is the first season the award has been split between disciplines, but it didn't matter for Boee, who was dominant in both disciplines throughout the season.  The award is given to the skier who accumulates the most NCAA Qualification points in each given discipline in the regular season, which consisted of four meets in 2021.

In classic action, he won the award by 32 points, picking up 151 out of a possible 160 points with three wins and one fourth place showing on the season.  A Utah trio including Ola Jordheim (119), Bjorn Riksaasen (116) and Sam Hendry (114) were a close second through fourth place with Sigurd Roenning from Alaska Anchorage taking fifth place with 95 points.

He was more dominant in freestyle action, picking up three wins and a third place for 154 points and beating Riksaasen by 30 points with his total of 124.  Hendry and Jordheim were again in the top four with 104 and 97 points, respectively, and Denver's Bernhard Flaschberger was fifth with 96 points.

Boee is the third CU skier in the last six years to win the award alongside Rune Oedegaard in 2015 and Mads Stroem in 2016.  Boee has eight wins on the season after also winning both discipline races at the RMISA Championships.  Filip Forejtek won the men's alpine GS MVP earlier in the week, giving the Buffs three of the eight honors given out by the RMISA.

The RMISA began awarding league MVP honors in 2006, but this is the first season it has been broken down by discipline. Boee is 16th CU skier to win league MVP honors.  Last season Mikaela Tommy won for women's alpine.
