BOULDER- Henry Carlson (Track and Field), Kristoffer Max (Men's Golf), Maria Campos (Tennis) and Shanade Hopcroft (Soccer) are the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow.
Â
Carlson won the Kit Mayer Classic in the javelin on Sunday in Golden, Colo. The junior had the event won on his second throw but had his eyes set on the record books when he tossed another throw of 56.40 meters (185-0). The mark puts Carlson seventh in CU history after the javelin implement change in 1983.
Â
Max won the Southern Colorado Masters at the Pueblo Country Club last week. The sophomore led from wire-to-wire and finished with a 7-under 206 total. Max started the tournament off with a 6-under 71, posted a 2-under 69 in the second round, and a 1-over 72 in the final round.Â
Â
Campos won her singles match in the No.1 pairing against Utah last week 6-2, 7-6. Campos began the season at the No.6 position but moved her way up all season long to reach the No.1 spot. Campos is the first Colorado women's tennis player to play at every single position in singles in a season. She also became the first player to win a match at every position in a season.Â
Â
Hopcroft contributed to both goals in a 2-1 victory over Utah for the Buffs in their regular season finale. The senior assisted on Libby Geraghty's 25th minute goal to tie the match 1-1. In the 83rd minute, Hopcroft notched the game-winning goal to knock off the Utes 2-1. She is the first Buff with a goal and an assist in the same match since Taylor Kornieck did the same in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.Â
