Buffaloes Move Up In Men’s & Women’s National Polls

CU's Women Ranked 5th; Men 7th
NEW ORLEANS — Although they did not race last weekend, the University of Colorado cross country teams saw improvement in the USTFCCCA Polls. The women moved up to fifth-place this week, while the men improved to seventh.
CU's women had been ranked eighth but recorded 264 points in this week's rankings to jump up three positions. BYU and NC State remained tied for first as each picked up 323 points. BYU has the edge in first-place votes with seven, while NC State received four. New Mexico remained third in this week's poll (301). Pac-12 Conference foe Stanford also saw a three-position jump this week as the Cardinal moved into fourth with 269 points, just five more than the Buffaloes.
On the men's side, the top three teams stayed the same. Northern Arizona (329) was first and Notre Dame (311) remained second. Stanford's men are third with 293 points. Oklahoma State moved up a spot into fourth (290) while BYU dropped two spots to fifth (286). Iowa State sits between BYU and CU with 270 points after jumping four spots this week.
There was change for the Buffaloes in the regional rankings as well. The men moved up to second, passing BYU, and are behind NAU, in the Mountain Region standings this week, while on the women's side the women also moved up one spot to third behind BYU and NAU.
Colorado's next race is the NCAA Pre-National Invitational, October 15, in Tallahassee, Fla., which is the site of the 2021 NCAA Championships.
