DeLuzio, Sami Named CU Athletes of the Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER -- Volleyball's Brynna DeLuzio and Football's Jalen Sami were named the CU Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow for the August 30-September 5 time period.

DeLuzio had 41 digs in the two matches of the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge against Illinois and Iowa including a career high 28 against Illinois. She became just the second player in the Jesse Mahoney-era to get 28-plus digs in a match and the 17th player in school history to do so.

Sami had three tackles, two behind the line of scrimmage in the Buffs 35-7 season opening victory on Friday over Northern Colorado. Two of his tackles were for a loss of eight yards including a sack for a loss of four. He was CU's nominee for the Pac 12 Defensive Lineman of the week.

The volleyball team will play in the Buffs invitational this weekend and then a two game series against Colorado State University on September 16 and 18.

The football team will have a big matchup this Saturday at Empower Field at Mile High against sixth ranked Texas A&M.
