Buffs Opens Home Meet With Pair Of Wins

Facility Records Dropped In Six Events
BOULDER — The University of Colorado track and field team kicked off the 2023 Potts Invitational here Friday with the conclusion of the field events.

The Buffaloes picked up a pair of wins in the women's high jump and the women's weight throw. School record holder Gya'ni Sami picked up another win with a toss of 18.76 meters (61-6.75), her second win of the season thus far.

In the high jump. Allie Routledge moved up a position in the women's high jump top-10 list after clearing 1.77m (5-9.75), advancing into a tied for eighth with teammate Avery McMullen.

The women nearly swept the top-three places in the high jump with Routledge winning, McMullen in second in 1.66 meters (5-5.25) and freshman Riley Burkey in fourth clearing 1.61 meters (5-3.25).

Another CU freshman, Eva Bruce, opened up her collegiate career in Boulder finishing second in the long jump. Bruce jumped 5.70 meters (18-8.5) and was less than an inch and a half from the win.

On the men's side, Aidan Christiansen and Isaiah Bouchard led the way with a pair of third-place finishes in the long jump and weight throw, respectfully. Christiansen jumped 6.89 meters (22-7.25) while Bouchard threw 17.08 meters (56-0.5) in the weight.

Six total facility record were dropped during the day. Action continues tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the track events and will continue through 3:10 p.m. with the conclusion of the women's 4x400-meter relay.
