Alpine Buffs Have Strong Showing At Holiday Classic

December 22, 2025 | Skiing

ASPEN & STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — The Colorado alpine team delivered a dominant performance at the Holiday Classic with Buffaloes winning six of eight races and recording at least one podium finish in every event across four days of competition.

Due to weather and snow conditions, the giant slalom portion of the meet was relocated from Steamboat Springs to Aspen Highlands, where races were held Dec. 17–18. The slalom races returned to Steamboat Springs on Dec. 19–20 at Howelsen Hill.

Filip Wahlqvist won both slalom races at Howelsen Hill and Feb Allasina took home one of the GS races.  Justin Bigatel took second in one of the GS races and third and fifth in the two slalom races.

The CU women were dominant with Cathinka Lunder and Louison Accambray winning the two GS races and Paige DeHart picking up one of the slalom wins.  Accambray had four podiums taking a second in the other GS race and third in both slalom races.  The women racked up three wins, seven podiums and 14 top 10 performances in the four races.

Across the eight races, Colorado totaled six wins and 12 podium finishes, highlighted by at least one podium in every event. The women's depth stood out in particular, taking four of the top five (and five of the top nine; 1st-3rd-4th-5th-9th) in the second GS race and followed that up with four in the top eight (1st-3rd-6th-8th) in the slalom the following day.
