SENIOR (2017): In her senior season, Macleay had a career best 56 points, recording 40 goals, 16 assists, 15 groundballs, three draw controls and five caused turnovers. She started in all 20 games, persisting as one of Colorado’s top attackers, who ran the offense behind the net. Macleay is the all-time leader for assists with 64; she was third on the team for points (56), goals (40) and assists (16). She took 69 shots with 59 on goal, which put her fourth on the team for most shots. Her shooting percentage of 0.580 earned her the No. 18 spot in the country. The season opener against No. 9 Northwestern was a highlight for Macleay. Her first goal of the game was a turning point for Colorado, the first of two back-to-back goals that tied the score and put the Buffs in the lead within 20 seconds. Next, Macleay had the game winning goal 55 seconds into the overtime period, giving the Buffs their first win against a top-10 ranked opponent. Macleay had two five-point games, with three goals and two assists against UC Davis and Fresno State. There were only two games this season where Macleay did not score a goal; she went eight straight games scoring two goals or more, and ended the season with seven hat-tricks. Â

JUNIOR (2016): Macleay emerged as the team’s top playmaker behind the net and played in 17 games with 16 starts at attacker. She had 17 goals, 14 assists, 31 points, 28 shot attempts and 26 shots on goal. She also had 14 ground balls and four caused turnovers. She led the team in assists and was fifth in points. Macleay scored her first three goals of the season and had three ground balls and a caused turnover in a 15-3 win over Central Connecticut on March 5. She had a goal and a season-high four assists on March 21 in a 19-4 win over Marist and assisted on two more goals and scored once at No. 7/15 Northwestern on March 25. She scored a goal and had two assists at No. 12/10 Stanford on April 3, before scoring three times the following game against No. 7/6 Southern California. Macleay scored twice in a 16-3 win over San Diego State on April 10 and had two goals and two assists in a 23-0 win over Saint Mary’s on April 15. She wrapped up the regular season with two assists in a 14-9 win at Oregon on April 24 and scored twice in the MPSF Tournament semifinals against No. 9/8 Stanford.

SOPHOMORE (2015): Macleay remained a vital part of the Buffs this season, racking up 23 goals and 17 assists for a total of 40 points, putting her at the third most points on the team and second in assists. She had 37 shots on goal and earned a .860 shots on goal percentage. Macleay started 17 of 18 games and saw play time in all of them helping the Buffs to an 11-7 overall season record. She also had 22 ground balls and caused five turnovers. Macleay had a four-point game with two goals and two assists in a 19-0 win over Presbyterian on March 2. She had back-to-back two-goal games in a pair of close wins, a 10-9 win over New Hampshire (March 17) and 14-13 double-overtime victory at Michigan (March 22). Macleay had her first of two six-point games on March 27 in a 17-7 win over UMass Lowell with three goals and three assists. Her second six-point game came on April 17 in a 21-5 win over Saint Mary's (Calif.) with a season-high four goals and two assists. She also had a five-point game with a season-high three assists and two goals to beat Fresno State 16-7. In two games at the MPSF Tournament, she had four goals and one assist, scoring three times in a win over San Diego State and adding a goal and an assist against No. 15 Stanford.

FRESHMAN (2014): Macleay was an important part of the Buffalo attack in her debut season. One of seven Buffs to start all 19 games, she ended the inaugural season leading the team in assists (17), ranking third in points (34) and ranking fifth in goals (17), shots attempted (39) and shots on goal (32). Macleay also scooped up 19 ground balls, caused eight turnovers and won one draw control. She recorded points in 14 games, having two or more on nine occasions. Netting hat tricks in back-to-back games to being the season, Macleay also became the first Buff to score in man-up and man-down situations, accomplishing the feat in the opening weekend. Macleay got her first game-winner in CU’s inaugural home game, helping CU to a 13-10 win over Regis. Having four assists on her stat line through the first nine games, Macleay nearly doubled that total in the Buffs’ first MPSF home game. She notched seven assists in CU’s 19-5 win over St. Mary’s, setting a CU single-game record. Her seven assists also tied for fourth most in a single game in MPSF history and were the second most in 2014.Â
HIGH SCHOOL: Macleay averaged 5.5 points per game in her four years at Sherwood Forest. She made Annapolis High School's varsity squad her sophomore season, playing in every game and helping the Panthers to a 9-5 record. Her junior season, the team improved to 11-3-1. Macleay not only led Anne Arundel County in assists, but also set a single-season record with 45 in 15 games. Her 20 goals that season also helped her rank in the top six in the county in overall points. She received second-team All-County honors from The Capital and was named a Maryland Girls LAX Player of the Week. In her final season, she led the team in points, scoring 29 goals and contributing 49 assists. She topped her county record for most assists with 49 in 14 games. She also set an Annapolis high school record for the most assists in a single game, contributing seven against Southern High School. In her final prep game, she had one goal and five assists as the Panthers fell in the second round of playoffs to the eventual Maryland state champions. Macleay spent four years with the Maryland United Lacrosse Club. She was also a point guard on the Annapolis basketball team, tallying a 16-4 record in the 2011-12 season.  Â

PERSONAL: Katherine Macleay was born on January 24, 1994. Her mother is Judith O'Brien. Macleay's sister, Maggie, played Division III lacrosse at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She has worked as a lifeguard, and hopes to go to medical school after graduation. Macleay was an honor student in the International Baccalaureate Program. She is a fan of the Washington Redskins and the Harry Potter books and movies. She likes listening to Taylor Swift and Rihanna. Macleay chose CU to be near the mountains and to make history.
