College? This Season (Sr.): Played in all four fall tournaments and led the team in most categories, including stroke average (71.42), subpar rounds (6), rounds counting toward team scoring (1.000), par-4 (4.02) and par-5 (4.69) scoring and top tournament finishes (three).? The 71.42 average was the third lowest in school history for the fall season, topped only by Derek Tolan (71.00 in 2008) and John Lindberg (71.15 in 1987); he was able to do so as nine of his 12 rounds were between 68 and 72.? He had a pair of top five finishes, both to start the season, as he tied for fifth in CU’s Mark Simpson Invitational (209, -7) and then tied for third at the Air Force Miranda Invitational (210, -6); those rank 1-2 in his college career for stroke counts in relation to par.? He ranked 19th in the nation in pars per round (12.3), was fifth in both greens in regulation (75.9%) and “Ham & Egg” (13/2) and tied for eighth in fewest double bogeys or worse per round (.08; he had one all fall).?

2010-11 (Jr.): He was fifth on the team in scoring average (75.24), struggling a bit in the spring as he led the team after the four fall tournaments (73.00; just outside the top 20 fall averages in school history).? Still for the season, 28 of 31 rounds counted toward team scoring, second-best on the team.? His best finish for year was a tie for 10th in CU’s Mark Simpson Invitational (216, E), with his best effort in relation to par coming in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational (210, -3) where led the Buffs and tied for 29th; he opened that tournament with his best first round of the year, a 4-under 67.? His best spring effort came playing as an individual in the Oregon Duck Invitational, as he tied for 26th (219, +3).? He ended the fall as the national leader, out of nearly 6,600 players, with the fewest holes of triple bogey or worse with zero (out of 216 holes); in fact, he recorded just four where he shot a double bogey.? He would run that streak to 331 holes before scoring a triple (on a par-3) in the third tournament of the spring, at the Bandon Dunes Championships.? In the fall, he was 26th nationally in pars per round, averaging 12.08 for 12 rounds; he was also 20th in non-sand up-and-downs with a 70.0 percent conversion rate (he finished the year 22nd in the latter at 66.5); he ranked 54th in the country in total short game (60.0).

2009-10 (Soph.): He finished third on the team in stroke average (74.31), as he was also third in the spring (74.63) as well as in the fall (73.71); he was also third in par rounds or better with 10 (six subpar) and had the team’s top performance in three events.? His best round was his opening one, where his 73.62 average was second best on the squad; he was consistent afterwards though, with a 74.50 average in middle rounds and a 74.83 final round norm.? He had two top 20 finishes, both in the fall, led by a tie for 13th in the Air Force Falcon Invitational (215, -1); but his first round effort in the meet earned his way into the CU record book.? He opened with an 8-under par 64, tying the famed Eisenhower Blue course record and the CU school record for the most strokes under par for a single round (the latter matching Edward McGlasson’s 63 on a par-71 track in 2005 and 64 on a par-72 layout a year later; the 64 tied for the second best gross score in school history, topped only by McGlasson.? It also tied for the 21st low round in the NCAA for the 2009-10 season).? He shot 32 on each side, scoring six birdies, an eagle and 11 pars with just 29 putts for his 64.? His other top effort was a tie for 16th in the weather-shortened Alister Mackenzie Invitational (139, -3).? His top showing in the spring was a tie for 30th in the Barona Collegiate Cup; that was one of seven finishes he had between 30th and 50th for the semester.? He finished 34th in the nation in par-3 greens in regulation (67.3 percent) and 60th in non-sand up-and-downs (61.1 percent).?

2008-09 (Fr.): He tied for the third most rounds played by a freshman in school history (37), with his 74.95 stroke average the eighth best ever posted by a frosh (sixth best by a true freshman); it also was the fourth best among the regulars on the team. ?He had struggles just twice in the last round of a tournament, generally closing strong with a 73.42 for 13 final rounds (minus an 84 in CU’s Stevinson meet and a 76 in Denver’s, and that number was a really solid 72.1).? He played in all but one of CU’s 13 tournaments as he quickly earned his way as a regular on the travel squad for five of the six fall trips and all seven in the spring.? His best spring effort came in the Big 12 Championships, where his 296 (+16) scorecard at the always tough Prairie Dunes CC (Hutchinson, Kan.) was good for a 12th place finish, the third best by a Buff freshman in the Big 12 meet, topped only by 11th place efforts in 2000 by Kane Webber and Stephen Carroll.? It was the eighth best all-time conference meet finish by a CU frosh, and his final round 70 matched the second best 18-hole score by a Buffalo frosh in a league championship meet.? He also tied for 15th in the Western Intercollegiate (222, +12).? In the fall, he had two top 25 finishes in posting a 74.40 stroke average, the fourth best by a true freshman in the fall (minimum 12 rounds) in school history.? He debuted in the USF Olympic Club Intercollegiate, where his 76-71-73?220 (+7) effort tied him for 25th, the seventh player in school history to finish in the top 25 in his first collegiate meet.? He came back the following week in DU’s Ron Moore Invitational and tied for ninth (67-69-76?212; -4) but did share the lead with teammate Pat Grady after 18 as well as 36 holes.? His first round 67 (-5) was his best single round of the season, and his top national stat was a No. 55 ranking in sand saves (56.3%).

High School?A four-time all-state performer, he is one of the most decorated players in the history of the Missouri high school golf.? ?He was the Missouri state champion as a senior (2008), turning in a 72-72?144 scorecard and won on the last hole by getting up and down?from behind a tree.? He finished second in the state championship as a freshman and junior (he led the tournament with three holes remaining as a frosh before taking runner-up honors). ?He owned a 72.3 scoring average per round in high school under coach Bob Kinloch (71.8 as a senior, 74.7 as a junior and 70.7 as a sophomore and freshman) and won nine tournaments during his prep career.? He set the Missouri state high school record for low score, recording a 63 to win the All City Invitational at the Twin Oaks Country Club as a sophomore.? That round was one short of the overall course record of 62 set by Arnold Palmer in 1961 and tied the amateur course record as well.?? He was featured in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” in its May, 15, 2006 edition.?? He also played basketball (center) as a freshman.

He reached the quarterfinals of the Missouri Amateur, played in his hometown of Springfield; he lost the quarterfinal match 3 and 2 to 2-time champ Skip Berkmeyer; he tied for sixth in stroke play qualifying portion of the event (75-75?150) that whittled the field to 64.? He tied for 12th in the Southwestern Amateur (El Paso, Texas), carding a 69-75-72-68?284 (-4); his final round 68 was the fourth best score in the field, as he vaulted up 12 spots in the standings.? 2010: He reached the semifinals of the Missouri Amateur, again played in his hometown of Springfield; he lost the semifinal match 3 and 2 to Matt Miller. Tied for 51st in the Trans-Mississippi Championship at Denver Country Club (74-72-75?221; +11).? 2008: He finished 20th in the Missouri State Stroke Play (71-68-76-77?292) and reached the round of 32 in the Missouri Amateur.? One of the few people who have ever played the game to have two hole-in-ones in the same round: on March 1, 2008 at Highland Springs CC (Springfield, Mo.), he aced the Nos. 6 and 15 holes.? 2007: He had two top finishes in FCWT (Future Collegians World Tour) action, ninth in the Sun Devil and 10th in the Grand Cypress events and was ranked as the No. 74 in the American Junior Golf Association.?
