2007 OUTLOOK: Jackie rejoins the Buffs after studying abroad in
2006: Sturm competed in the 60 and 200-meter runs during the indoor season. She recorded a personal best of 7.92 in the 60 and 25.73 in the 200 at the Air Force Invite. At the Big 12 Indoor Championships, Sturm recorded a time of 8.00 in the 60 (18th place) and 26.29 in the 200 (22nd place); both in the preliminaries. During the outdoor campaign, Sturm added the 100, 400 and javelin to her events. She only tallied one throw in the javelin, but earned a pr with a toss of 106-00 at the Potts Invitational and a fourth-place finish. Sturm earned her best marks in the 100 and 200 at the Potts Invite. She finished the 100 with a pr of 12.40 and the 200 in 25.49, taking second and third, respectively. She took 20th at the Big 12 Outdoors (25.72) in the 200 and placed 22nd in the 400 (59.09).
2005: Sturm set personal records in all of her individual races during the indoor season, competing in the 60, 200, and 400-meter and the 600-yard dashes. At the Air Force Classic she took fourth place in both the 60 (7.96) and the 200 (25.82). At the Air Force Open 400 race, she took seventh with a time of 59.50 and took second place at the Colorado Open 600-yard dash with a time of 1:31.74. She also participated in the 4x400 (4:12.37) and 4x440 (4:06.40) relays at the Colorado Open and Air Force Open, respectively. In the outdoor season, following her trend of setting personal records in every event, Sturm competed in the 100, 200 and 400 as well as the Javelin, setting personal records in all. At the Tom Benich Invitational she finished fifth in both the 200 (25.48) and the 400 (59.60). She took home seventh-place at the Colorado Invitational 100 with a time of 12.5 and the Ris Western-Air Force Twilight Javelin with a throw of 99-10. She was also part of the 4x400 relay team, turning in a time of 4:13.31 at the Potts Invitational.
2004: In her first collegiate action Sturm competed in the indoor 60 and 200-meter dash. Her top time in the 60 (8.22) earned her a 21st place finish at the Air Force Invite, while her best finish came at the Colorado Invitational when she placed fourth (8.27). In the 200, Sturm raced twice as she earned 25th place at the Air Force Invite with a 26.80 and then runner-up status at CU’s own invitational clocking a 27.83. During the outdoor season she competed in the 200 and 400-m dashes, and was a part of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay team. She ran the second-best outdoor 200 on the year for CU at the Jack Christensen Invite when she finished fifth at 26.06. At the Pepsi Invitational she posted a 26.44 (seventh place) along with an 11th place completion at the Arizona State Invitational notching a 26.65 mark. Her top 400 came during the Jack Christensen Invite when she ran a 1:00.32, finishing fifth overall. She also clocked a 1:00.66 and 1:00.70 at the Pepsi Invitational and Potts Invitational, respectively, placing seventh in both meets. As the third leg in CU’s 4X100 relay, Sturm helped her unit finish fourth at the Pepsi Invitational in a time of 48.70.
HIGH SCHOOL: A three-sport athlete (track, softball, diving) at Mullen, Sturm graduated with school records in the 100-meter (12.35) and 200-meter (25.55), as well as a state record in the 4x400-meter relay in 2003. Her track team was state champs four consecutive years (2000-03) and her softball squad was state champions in 2001. Sturm was a three-time all-state performer in track and first-team all-state and first-team all-conference (Centennial League) in softball her senior year. She was also Mullen’s 2003 Female Athlete of the Year recipient as a senior.
ACADEMICS: An English major, Sturm was both a Dean’s List and Commissioner’s Honor Roll athlete following the fall ’03, spring ’04 and both ?05 semesters. She was also named to the Dean’s List in the spring ’05 semester. Sturm carries a grade point average above 3.0 and returns to the Buffs after studying abroad in
