2007 OUTLOOK: Zach, a senior and school record holder in the weight throw and an NCAA Indoor  provisional qualifier, has scored at the Big 12 Championships several times and looks to be very competitive this year on the conference level and hopefully national level both indoors and out.

2006: Hazen only competed during the indoor season. He tied his school record of 61-07.75 at the Don Barrett Invite. He also placed third at the meet. Hazen earned a first-place finish at the Joe Davies Invite with a toss of 60-04.50. He earned two fourth-place finishes, once at the Air Force Invite (60-10.50) and at the Husky Classic (60-04.00). At the Big 12 Championship, he placed 14th overall with a throw of 57-01.00.

2005: Hazen competed in the weight throw during the indoor season, setting a personal and school record of 61-7.75 at the Big 12 Indoor, securing him a seventh-place finish. During the outdoor season he participated in both the hammer throw and the discuss, recording a 193-4 personal record and regional qualifying mark and a second-place finish at the Tom Benich Invitational in the hammer throw. His longest mark of the season in the Discus was a 165-8 throw at the Mt. SAC Relays, leading him to a third-place finish.

2004: Hazen participated in the weight throw, where he scored at the Big 12 Championships, finishing eighth with a throw of 57-04.25. In the outdoor campaign, Hazen had the performance of the season for the Buffs in the discus throw. He finished 17th at the NCAA Regionals with a throw of 174-06. In the Big 12 Outdoor Championships he scored in seventh place with a throw of 176-08.

2003: Hazen threw the discus and hammer during both seasons. His 165-07.00-discus throw at the Jack Christensen Invitational led the team on the season and his 157-05.00 throw was good enough for 11th place at the Big 12 Championships. In the hammer throw, he recorded his season-best score at the Big 12 Championships with a 170-00.00 for a 10th place finish.

High School: A four-year letterwinner at Houston High School in Germantown, Tenn., Hazen had a discus throw of 173-0 at the state championship meet. He lists his greatest moment as a prep when he won the state meet as a senior after breaking his ankle earlier in the season.

ACADEMICS: Hazen is an aerospace engineering major at Colorado. He earned a spot on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll after the fall ’06 semester.

PERSONAL: Born Zachary Robert Timm Hazen on Jan. 12, 1984 in Little Rock, Ark., Hazen is the son of John and Carol Hazen. His father was a football player at the Air Force Academy from 1973-75, and his favorite athlete is his sister, Jacqueline, a former rower at Notre Dame.
