Cappabianca joins the Buffs from the University of Central Florida where he was a volunteer women’s assistant coach for the No.12-ranked team in the nation. He assisted in leading two doubles teams to the main draw semifinal at the 2020 ITA All-American Championships as well as guiding an unranked pair to the No.44-rank in the nation.
“I’m thankful for this opportunity from coach Steinberg and Rick George to come over midseason and help out the Buffs,” said Cappabianca. “Being in the Pac-12 is an honor and I am looking forward to help take the Buffaloes to the next step at the national level.”
Also at UCF, Cappabianca assisted in team practices and conducted individual practices that included on-court conditioning.
Prior to his time at UCF, Cappabianca served as an assistant coach for his alma mater at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., for two seasons. The team finished the 2019 season with an 18-7 dual record and the No.11 ranking in the ITA Division II rankings.
At Rollins, Cappabianca assisted in leading the No.8-ranked singles player to a 20-1 record and an All-American finish. The team also excelled academically with a 3.3 GPA while he was there.
Cappabianca began his coaching career directly out of college when he served as the head coach for both the men and women’s programs at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. In one season there he developed and coached both teams to a Centennial Conference first and second-round finishes, a first for the college. The postseason accolades included first and second-team all-conference singles honors as well as the sportsman and sportswoman of the year honors for each team.
Cappabianca was a top-50 player in Florida during his high school career where he was an All-State selection. He started his collegiate career at Lander University before transferring to Rollins.
