Brian Ward was named the assistant coach for the University of Colorado tennis program on September 13, 2021.

Ward, 32, joined the Buffs after working with the University of Minnesota for three seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. At Minnesota, he assisted in practice planning and workouts. While with the Gophers, the team rose as high as No. 41 in the national rankings in 2020. The team defeated three ranked opponents in his time and posted a 23-3 record at home from 2017-18 to 2018-19.

Prior to his time at Minnesota, Ward worked as the assistant coach to the men's tennis team at the University of Pennsylvania from 2015 to 2017 where he helped recruit a pair of top-25 recruiting classes.

Ward coached at his alma mater Georgetown where he graduated with a B.S. in Business and a Master’s in Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management. He began as a volunteer coach in 2012-13 before being promoted to an assistant coach for both the men's and women’s teams in 2013-15. As a player, Ward was a two-time letter winner and All-Academic team member. He spent his first two years collegiately at Creighton where he was a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

Ward is a Hutchinson, Minn., native and a United States Professional Tennis Association Certified Teaching Professional.
