A multiple sport performer at CU, Pat Patten earned a total of seven letters: two in cross countyr, two in track and three in wrestling. He was a two-time champion in wrestling in the Mountain States Conference as well as a two-time titleholder in the Rocky Mountain AAU Tournament. He was the first Buffalo to be elected to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He also served twice as president of the Alumni C Club (1948, 1985-88) and was inducted into the CU Athletic Hall of Honor in 1989. A graduate of Manual High School in Denver, he enrolled at CU in 1939 after working odd jobs for Kayo Lam in the athletic department upon his high school graduation. A chemical engineering major, he would go on to teach and coach at Boulder High School for 36 years, coaching in the same sports he lettered in college.Patten passed away on Feb. 24, 2007 at the age of 86.
