A 6-foot-6, 200-pound guard, he was a four-year letterman under both coaches Ricardo Patton (three times) and Jeff Bzdelik … Finished his career as Colorado’s all-time leading scorer with 2,001 points (tied by Cory Higgins three years later) … Led the Buffaloes in scoring all four seasons, just the second player in school history to do so, joining Donnie Boyce (1991-95), and one of just five players to lead the Buffs on three occasions … Still tied for eighth all-time in Big 12 scoring through the ’24-25 season (his 16.8 per game average is ninth) … He scored 1,103 points in 64 Big 12 games, still the third-most to this day (as is his 17.2 per game average) … In 119 career games (116 starts), he had per game averages of 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals … Was consistent from year-to-year, averaging 16.0 points as a freshman, 17.0 as a sophomore, 17.3 as a junior and 17.0 as a senior; those ranked him, respectively, in the Big 12 as 10th, fifth, seventh and third … The sixth player at the time to lead CU in scoring as a freshman (and only the ninth to average in double figures); that season, he made seven 3-pointers in two games (versus Texas Tech and Kansas State) … Finished in the top 17 in steals in the Big 12 three times (including fifth as a sophomore, 2.2 spg), and as a senior, he was fourth in minutes played (34.7) and seventh in rebounding (6.7 per) … Shot 43.1 percent from the field (34.7 percent from 3-point range, 214-of 617), and was a healthy 74.2 percent from the free throw line (411-of-554) … Still ranks in the top 10 in several career categories (scoring, tie-1st; 3-point field goals made, tie-2nd; field goals made, 5th; steals, 6th; free throws made and attempted, 7th; and with 92 blocked shots, he’s 12th) … Scored 30 or more points seven times (second-most in CU history), including a career-high 33 in a 74-71 win at Missouri as a sophomore, just CU’s second win since 1973 in Columbia … Scored 20 or more points 40 times and in double figures 105 times in 119 games … Earned a plethora of top honors: two-time NABC First-Team All-District (2005-06, 2007-08); 2005-06 USBWA First-Team All-District; 2005-06 First-Team All-Big 12 Conference (third-team as a senior, honorable mention as a freshman and junior) … Big 12 All-Freshman Team member in 2004-05 … Four Big 12 weekly honors (twice Player of the Week, twice Rookie of the Week) … 2005 CUSPY Male Freshman Athlete of the Year Award and the 2008 CUSPY Male Career Athletic Achievement Award recipient … Sociology major at Colorado, returned after professional career to graduate in 2024 … Undrafted in 2008 by the NBA, he signed to play overseas in Israel (Bnei Hasharon), and would have an 11-year career on three continents … Played one season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA G League (2010-11; averaged 15.5 ppg during regular season but was second on the team in eight playoff games with a 14.3 norm) … Has played for Team Colorado in The Basketball Tournament … Half-brother is former NBA All-Star and Denver Nugget Kenyon Martin … He is the father of the five daughters between the ages of 3 and 16 … He was born Sept. 28, 1985 in San Bernardino, Calif.Â
