Colorado Postgame Quotes

November 07, 2002 | Women's Basketball

Colorado Head Coach Ceal Barry
GENERAL-"I think we're going to be a good team. We have the pieces of the puzzle. We just need to take the time and find out where to put them. Once we do that, we should be fine."

ON THE DEFENSE-"We have to continue to work on the defense. They (UNK) took too many shots and had way too many opportunities tonight. The guard pressure was good overall but our defense isn't where it needs to be."

ON THE PLAY OF THE BENCH-"I like to use our bench, I usually like to use 10. It is unclear what 10 we're going to use right now, but that will take time and come along as the season goes."

ON TURNOVERS-"We had 18 turnovers, and we can't have that going into our first game. That is way too many to have against a Division I opponent. We will have to continue to work on that as well.

Colorado Players
C Tera Bjorklund
ON THE 17 POINT RUN-"We slowed down and looked at our options. We had a lot of great passes looking inside and out. We were able to get the shots we wanted. It was also about getting turnovers and the pressure was awesome by the guards so that really helped us."

G Kate Fagan
ON TEAM PLAY-"If we're going to win, we're going to win as a team and it's good to see where we're at." ON PLAYING TIME-"I've been watching Mandy and Jenny for a while now. I've just learned from their experience and patience and just getting the ball around so that everybody touches it."

F Sabrina Scott
ON THE ADRENALINE-"We've got the adrenaline at the beginning of the game it kind of drains real quick and then your get you second wind."

Nebraska-Kearney Head Coach Carol Russell
ON FUTURE SCHEDULE-"It's going to be challenging. There are a lot of teams high up in the west, so it's going to be tough, but I'm excited. It's going to be a challenge, we're very young. I looked out on the floor tonight and we had as many as three freshmen playing against a Big 12 team. We have a lot of work to do, but the future looks very bright."

ON HER FIRST YEAR-"The kids are great. They work really hard. We also have a new AD who has demonstrated some great leadership. I'm really excited about the season." "There's a little pressure, but I put it on myself. We have a lot of players that haven't advanced past the first-round of the tournament, so I told them we have to go out there and do it. We're going to take some lumps early scheduling games like this but it will get us ready for February and March."

ON SCHEDULING D-I OPPONENTS-"It's a good way to see what you've got. It's a good tool for measuring."
