CU improves to 13-5 overall and 5-3 in the Big 12. The Buffs have won three straight and four of their last five with the lone loss coming at No. 7 ranked
Not only did Santillana have the most kills of any player, she was extremely efficient with her attempts. She hit an outstanding .444 committing just four errors on 27 attempts. As a team the Buffs hit .336, recording 60 kills with just 21 errors on 116 attacks. Senior Monique Gerlach had 13 kills while sophomore Nicole Carr had a match-high 10 digs.
Four Buffs with six or more attacks hit .500 or better led by freshman right side Austin Zimmerman (8k-2e-12att) and junior setter Allison Barnes (3k-0e-6att).
'The whole team is being so aggressive,' Santillana said. 'We have great chemistry right now. We need to forget about the past and focus on the present.'
The past was a stretch of four matches where CU went 1-3 in late September, early October, including a sweep at the hands of the University of Kansas and a heart wrenching five-game loss at No. 25 Texas A&M University.
CU is doing it with offense during its winning streak. Over the past three matches the Buffs are hitting .297 (178k-64e-384att), vs. .248 for the entire season. CU is also averaging an unreal 19.78 kills per game over that span in which the Buffs have swept all three opponents.
'It was a great effort (tonight),' CU head coach Pi'i Aiu said. 'We played great defense and I'm really happy overall.
The Buffs will put their winning streak on the line Saturday, Oct. 18, at No. 8 ranked
