Volleyball's Carr Named Athlete of the Week

#articleRelated { display: none; } BOULDER- Sophomore Nicole Carr earns Athlete of the Week honors after being named Big 12 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. She was also recently named to the 2003 Academic All-Big 12 volleyball team, and is currently tied for third in the conference with 3.57 digs per game. 

Carr had five digs and three service aces in the Buffs sweep of the Texas Longhorns, which left her averaging 4.25 kills, and 3.62 digs, while hitting .301 per game last week.Last Wednesday, November 19, Carr had 1  Her 24 digs equal a personal best and a season high.  double double of the season in Colorado's defeat of Missouri.15thOn Saturday, Carr led all players with 19 kills and 24 digs.             

Others nominated for this week's award were David Harrison (men's basketball) and Kate Fagan (women's basketball).           

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:  Kate Fagan, Senior, New Prague, Minn.


She finished the game with 23 points, a new career high for her, on 7-10 shooting from three-point range to go with four assists and three steals. Then against No. 13 Minnesota, she sparked the Buffs' second half effort with 2-2 shooting 2-2 from three point range and 5-10 from the floor for a team high 14 points. It marks the first All-Tournament honors of her career. On the strength of back-to-back double-digit performances, Kate Fagan was named to the University of Minnesota Subway Classic All-Tournament team. In CU's first game against Harvard, the senior guard tied the school record for three's in a game with seven.


MEN'S BASKETBALL: David Harrison, Junior, Nashville, Tenn.
Junior center David Harrison scored a game-high 30-points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked six shots in Colorado's 94-77 loss at Pepperdine. It was Harrison's second-straight game scoring in double-digits as he netted 10 points and with seven rebounds in CU's 67-56 season opening win over Northwestern. Harrison's 30 points against the Waves were one point off his career-best, while his 13 field goals made tied a personal high.
