
BUFFS SEASON ENDS IN NCAA FIRST ROUND

CU, appearing in its 12th NCAA Tournament in 13 seasons, completes the 2003 campaign at 21-10.
“I am very disappointed with the outcome of the match,” CU head coach Pi'I Aiu said. “I know we can play much better than we played tonight. I can only blame myself for what happened.”
“We didn't come out in the right mindset,” senior captain Monique Gerlach said. “We definitely could have played better.”
CU fell behind 5-1 right away in the first game and never caught up. The Buffs held early leads in the final two games, but
Gerlach, in her final collegiate game had seven kills, six digs and topped the Buffs in hitting percentage at .357. She finishes her stellar career among the school's top 10 in kills, blocks, hitting, attacks and aces.
