CU, appearing in its 12th NCAA Tournament in 13 seasons, completes the 2003 campaign at 21-10. Michigan, 22-11, faces No. 8 ranked Cal on Saturday for the right to advance to the Sweet 16.

“I am very disappointed with the outcome of the match,” CU head coach Pi'I Aiu said. “I know we can play much better than we played tonight. I can only blame myself for what happened.”

Colorado had only 31 kills with 29 errors on 100 attacks. Michigan, led by Erin Moore's 13 kills, had 40 kills with just 12 errors on 90 attacks. CU sophomore Maragda Santillana led the team with 10 kills and nine digs.

“We didn't come out in the right mindset,” senior captain Monique Gerlach said. “We definitely could have played better.”

CU fell behind 5-1 right away in the first game and never caught up. The Buffs held early leads in the final two games, but Michigan had an answer for everything CU threw their way. The Wolverines had 18 ? blocks compared to just five for CU. Michigan also had 10 service aces.

Gerlach, in her final collegiate game had seven kills, six digs and topped the Buffs in hitting percentage at .357. She finishes her stellar career among the school's top 10 in kills, blocks, hitting, attacks and aces.
