February 04, 2003 | General, Skiing
BOULDER- Freshman Men's Nordic skier Henrik Hoye earned CU Athlete of the Week after his performance this weekend at the 11th Annual Laura Sharpe Flood/CU Memorial Ski Invitational. Hoye led the team (618 points) to a dominating performance as they skied to a 53-point victory on their home Eldora Ski Resort this past Friday and Saturday.
Hoye, a Freshman from Oslo, Norway, finished second both days of the event, his best placing of his first year at CU. On Friday, Hoye fell short of 1st by one-tenth of a second in the Nordic men's 10k while skiing in windy conditions and unfamiliar high altitude. The effort helped the CU team to a 22-point lead at the halfway point of the Invitational.
