Five Buffs Receive Big 12 Honors
November 01, 2004 | General, Soccer
BOULDER -- University of Colorado soccer players junior midfielder Fran and sophomore defender Laura Munnelly are the first set of siblings to be named First-Team All-Big 12 simultaneously as both were selected by the Big 12 Conference's head soccer coaches for the honor Monday the league office announced.
In addition, junior goalkeeper Jessica Keller and senior midfielder Jen Thais were named Second-Team All-Big 12 while sophomore transfer Allie True was named to the All-Newcomer Team.
It is the third straight appearance on the first team list for Fran, and Laura's first after being named second team as a freshman. Keller was named to the newcomer team a year ago while Thais is receiving the first postseason playing honor of her career.
Colorado, as the third seed, will open postseason play Wednesday against sixth-seeded Missouri in the first round of the Big 12 Soccer Tournament in San Antonio. It is the third-straight conference tournament opening round meeting between the two teams. A year ago then-eighth seeded Missouri upset top-seeded CU in the tournament's first game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (MT) with live updates available on CUBuffs.com.
