Roby Named CU Athlete of the Week

BOULDER- Freshman guard Richard Roby led Colorado to a 1-1 record during last week's men's basketball opening week as the Buffaloes defeated the College of Charleston (72-57) at home and lost at Michigan (69-60) in the Preseason NIT. Roby averaged 18.5 points in two games, both CU game-highs, in addition to averaging 6.5 rebounds and three steals.
The 6'6" San Bernardino, Calif. (Lawrence Academy, Groton, Mass.) native was also 13-of-23 (56.5) from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Roby's 19 points against the Cougars in the season opener ranked fourth overall in school history for the best scoring performance for a freshman. Against Charleston, Roby helped CU improve to 9-0 season openers under head coach Ricardo Patton and helped Patton win his 100th career game at the Coors Events Center.
Roby and the rest of the Colorado basketball team will be in action Sunday Nov. 28 when they play host to the Wildcats of Northwestern, tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Coors Events Center.
