Colorado Women's Basketball / Postgame Notes

CU vs. No. 1's. Colorado is now 0-4 against No. 1 ranked teams, with all four losses by six points or less; CU was ranked 12th or higher in all four games as well.
  • Time Spent In The Lead. Colorado led this game for 26:53, while Texas led for just 9:59 (including the last 4:29) with the teams tied for 3:08. In the first half, CU led 17:30, UT led 1:42 and the game was tied for 48 seconds (Game: Ties?7, Lead Changes?7; Big Leads: Colorado 9 @ 25-16, Texas 6 @ 51-45, the final score).
  • 18/14. Texas outscored CU in the second half by 33-20, largely because CU was able to get off only 18 field goal attempts in the half while turning it over 14 times. CU had just three offensive rebounds in the half, converting just one into points.
  • Rebounds. Texas outrebounded the Buffs, 43-38, only the 10th time in 25 games an opponents was within five rebounds ofthe Longhorns (UT has had the edge in 22 games, and CU's 38 boards tied for the sixth most allowed by UT in 2003-04).
  • First Generation Shooting. The rebound edge came on the offensive side, as Texas had 19 offensive boards to CU's 8, and held a 20-6 advantage in second chance points. Texas was 7-of-13 on second chance shots (including 2 on two possessions, 6-8 FT, 2 TO's), translating to just 8-of-43 shooting on first generation shots (18.6%). In the first half, Texas was 4-of-8 on second chance shots (including 2 on one possession with 1-2 FT, 1 TO), meaning it was 3-of-23 on first generation shots (13.0%).
  • Texas came in averaging 37.8 points in the first half, but the 18 the Longhorns tonight by far was the lowest in a first half this season (previous low: 29 on two occasions?UT trailed 32-29 at Penn State but led 29-17 over Oklahoma).
  • Seven-Plus. Colorado held Texas scoreless for a period of 7:04 in the first half, but only managed to outscore the ?Horns by 7-0 in the span to build an 8-2 lead. UT responded with seven straight points to take a 9-8 lead. CU also held UT without a field goal for 7:03 in the second half, as the Longhorns scored all eight of their points between the 8:33 mark and the 1:30 mark from the line.
  • Attendance. Tonight's crowd of 7,006 was a season-high at Coors and topped the largest crowd in 2002-03 (6,728 versus Kansas State).
  • Lowest Scoring Game? The 51-45 final score, or 96 combined points, were the fewest points in a game where CU and the opponent were both ranked; the previous low of 97 came last year in a 61-36 loss at Kansas State. The 51 points by Texas tied for the sixth fewest Colorado has allowed by a ranked team.
  • Colorado C Tera Bjorklund fouled out for only the third time in 120 career games; it contributed to her lowest scoring output (5 points) in 46 games, or since scoring just 4 in an 86-73 win over Iowa State on January 23, 2002.
