Colorado Nebraska Quotes
March 07, 2004 | Men's Basketball
Head Coach Ricardo Patton
On the victory:
"I thought the guys gave tremendous effort, particularly at the start of the game. I thought we were pretty good defensively as well."
"I'm going to take the next 20 minutes to enjoy this win and not even think about the game tomorrow. I really need those 20 minutes."
On Colorado defense:
"I thought our guards did a nice job of setting up screens. We really did increase our intensity in this game."
On playing Kansas tomorrow:
" We are really going to have to come out and just play the best we can."
On Blair Wilson:
"There is no doubt that Blair can shoot the ball. He is our most impressive guard. He has been the most consistent guard this season."
SOPHOMORE GUARD/FORWARD BLAIR WILSON
On Colorado's defense:
"Earlier in the week we went over what Nebraska would do and we knew we had to play defense. Coach told us we had to be ready to play and I feel that we did a good job coming out with defensive intensity."
"We knew we had to come off of screens, shape up on the screens and rotate to help everyone out that was out on the floor."
On playing Kansas:
"They are a good team and we knew we have played them three times. We just have to come out and play our game and see what happens."
On his three-point shooting:
"The coaches wanted us to come out and be aggressive. Towards the end I started feeling good about my shot and my shot is a three-point shot, so that is what I did."
JUNIOR FORWARD STEPHANE PELLE
On the game:
"We stepped up our entire effort. Defensively we changed the aspect of the game with our effort giving us a chance to win."
On playing without D.J. Harrison:
"It is a definite difference going into every game and knowing he may not be able to play. It shows a lot that our guards are stepping up. It has definitely effected our team and we are doing what we can to deal with it."

Head Coach BARRY COLLIER
On Colorado's defense:
"They're long and pretty athletic in some different spots. We weren't getting much inside and a few of our shooters -- the times that they did get open shots, which we didn't get near enough of those, but they were hard to come by. They play good defense."
On coming out flat after two strong games at the end of the regular season:
"I think we were trying to execute and make plays. I don't think it's accurate to call our team flat."
About shooting struggles:
"With the struggle we were having shooting the ball, which pretty much was consistent throughout the game with the exception of Cary, that really the only way back in was to play good defense, finish rebounds and get the shooters...We couldn't get to our zone trap without scoring."
FRESHMAN FORWARD JOHN TUREK
On the first half:
"We have no explanation, we just came out slow. It's tough when you're trying to play catch up all game. We did a good job of battling back and not quitting. We just couldn't finish it."
On the second half:
"I think we had the momentum. We thought we could come back in the second half and have a chance to win the game. We wanted to come out with some intensity and not be slow like we were in the first half."
On the season:
"People were saying that we would finish last in the Big 12. But we battled hard all year and proved all those guys wrong."
JUNIOR GUARD BRENNON CLEMMONS
On the first half:
"We just came out flat. It was the beginning of the game that really hurt us. We had to play catch up the rest of the time. We tried to stay under control and we did come back, we just couldn't finish."
SENIOR GUARD CARY COCHRAN
On trying to answer Colorado's three-point attack:
"I never felt I had to answer something that they did. My guys did a really good job screening for me, and fortunately the shot went in."
