Colorado Participates At the Air Force Open

Colorado Springs, Colo. ?The University of Colorado cross country teams participated at the Air Force Open on Saturday, Oct. 22. Both the men's and women's teams individually dominated the action; however no team scores were kept.

 

Freshman Chris Pannone led the pack for CU in the 8k loop, finishing with a time of 26 minutes and 36 seconds.  Sophomore Ryan Deak and freshman Kenyon Neuman ran unattached and placed second and third behind Pannone (26:46.9 and 26:59.8, respectively).  Sophomore Greg Castro (27:27.6) took sixth place, followed by Rob Thayer (27:42.9) at eighth and Will Campbell (27:47.9) at ninth.  Junior Daniel Kenney (27:59.2) finished in 11th place in, giving the Buffs seven finishers among the top 11 in the race.

 

On the women's side, Brooke Kish ran unattached and finished the 6k loop in 22 minutes and 20.9 seconds. The Buffs were able to take the next four slots as Shana Sparks (24:10.9), Annie Bohlen (26:11.4), Kelly Shuma (27:21.6) and Caitlen Schultheiss (unattached, 27:32.6) all finished ahead of the two Colorado College runners in the race.

 

With another solid race under their belts, the Buffaloes varsity team will be back in action Friday, Oct. 28, as they travel to Waco, Texas for the Big 12 Championships.
