Colorado Notes

February 26, 2005 | Women's Basketball

  • The starting line up of Veronica Johns-Richardson, Anna Nedovic, Whitney Law, Kara Richards and Jackie McFarland was used for the first time in conference play and first time since December 8 against Colorado State, an 83-77 Buffalo victory.
  • After being down two with 16:33 remaining in the first half Baylor went on a 19-5 run over the next 5:09 to take a 12 point lead that never got under seven.
  • An unscheduled timeout lasting under one minute was taken with 15:25 remaining in the game when the lights in the Coors Conference/Events Center dimmed.  The rest of the game was played in the darkened conditions.
  • With five three pointers tonight Johns-Richardson has 33 for the season, three more than her total for the first three years of her career at CU combined.
  • McFarland recorded her team-leading fifth double-double of the season scoring 17 points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds.  She is one of nine players in the Big 12 to have five or more double-doubles.
  • Jasmina Ilic led the Buffaloes with 19 points, the first time she has been Colorado's top scorer since she had 23 at Iowa State.
  • Six of the 19 players in tonight's game are from outside the country.  For Baylor Sophia Young and Abiola Wabara are from the West Indies and Italy respectively and for Colorado Nedovic and Sarah Lini are from Denmark, Ilic is from Serbia and Yari Escalera is from Puerto Rico.
  • Tonight's attendance of 3,057 is the second largest crowd to see the Buffaloes play this season, second only to the 3,680 that saw Colorado take on Kansas State on Jan. 29.
  • Wednesday night's game against Nebraska at 7 p.m. is Senior Night with a special tribute to Ceal Barry.
