BOULDER-- Freshman post player Kara Richards was named CU Athlete of the Week after her 19 point five- rebound performance in Colorado's 78-76 win over rival Nebraska this past Wednesday at the Coors Events Center.

The Graham, Texas native went
8-of-12 from the field, and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe, leading Colorado with 19 points.  Richards also grabbed five rebounds, blocked two shots, and dished out one assist in head coach Ceal Barry's home finale, helping the legend go out on top with a nail-biting win over Nebraska.

Richards and the rest of the Colorado women's basketball team will be in action Tuesday when they play Iowa State in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament.

Others nominated for this week's award were Hugh Charles (indoor track and field).
