January 18, 2006 | Men's Basketball
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Richard Roby scored 21 points and Chris Copeland added 17 on four 3-pointers as Colorado dealt Baylor its 17th consecutive loss by winning 81-48 Wednesday night.
Andy Osborn also had 12 points for Colorado (12-3, 2-2 Big 12 Conference). The Buffaloes have beaten Baylor six straight times at home, last losing to the Bears here on Dec. 15, 1951.
Henry Dugat led Baylor (0-3, 0-3) with 10 points. The team's leading scorer, Aaron Bruce had nine points and didn't score until hitting a 3-pointer a little over a minute into the second half.
The Bears have played only three games this season after NCAA violations forced the elimination of their non-conference schedule.
Colorado led 36-18 at halftime after starting slowly, missing 5-of-6 six shots to start the game. Baylor capitalized and with baskets by Henry Dugat and Tim Bush led 12-7, but following a timeout Osborn and Roby hit 3-pointers for Colorado to make it 13-12 and the Buffaloes never trailed again.
Roby had seven of Colorado's 23 points over the final 10:12 of the half while Baylor managed only two field goals and a pair of free throws over that span. Curtis Jerrells hit 1-of-2 throws ahead of a 11-2 run for Colorado, four points coming from Roby, to increase the Buffaloes lead to 60-36 with 7:40 remaining.
